Question about 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood

1 Answer

Leaking oil My car has been leaking oil but only seems to leak under hot temps., I had changed the oil recently, hoping it was just bad oil, continued to leak so i removed a cover to the rear main seal, it hasn't seemed to leak in a while, Is it possible the leaking oil was only coming from the cover or do I have a serious issue?

My s 430 has smoke coming from under hood after driving but not all the time temp gauage reads normal. I had oil and trans leaks sealed but it is still happening, what else could it be? Thanks

SMOKE UNDER HOOD COULD BE COOLANT LEAK FROM RADIATOR ITSELF OR CHECK FOR LEAKING TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND CHECK FOR LEAKING BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.LOOK UNDER THE HOOD IF COOLANT BOILING OUT COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG ENGINE OVERHEATING FROM BAD THERMOSTAT OR BAD WATER PUMP.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAK AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE.IF SO WATER PUMP NEED REPLACING.ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL LEVEL CORRECT.TRY LOCATE LEAK. IF CAR OVERHEATED AND BOILED IT OUT. SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD CAN ALSO BE CAUSED BY LEAKING VALVE COVERS WHICH CAN BE FIRE HAZARD IF OIL LEAKS ON HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD.

98 Subaru leaking oil

Oil leak will not change run temp but can cause a fire.
The smoke is the oil burning on the engine. The 1st thing you need to do is clean the oil off the engine.
Next top oil off to the full line on the dip stick. Now start the engine hold idle up to around 1600 rpm for 1 to 2 minutes keep engine run and look for the oil leak. Don't get caught in any moving parts and things will be hot so be careful. Most likely from your valve cover.

Had a slow coolant leak Oil temp guage redlined installed new failsafe thermostat, it still would not produce heat. Had a radiator flush and oil change and used bards leak, seems to have worked. Oiland...

there is a valve in the hot line to the heater core, it may not be opening. or you might have to disconnect the heater hoses and flush the heater core, stop leak will some times stop up core since tubes are very small

Temp gauge reaches red line and smoke/steam from under hood, but no leaks of any kind. This after recent oil change and thermostat install.

Something is wrong. What does the steam smell like? Oil or antifreeze?
Look closely for coolant seeping onto something hot and vaporizing, if that's what you smell.
Check your coolant level and oil to verify if you may have a leak.

Car runs hot while idling, then cools down when you start driving. Have to add antifreeze but cant tell where it is leaking. could it be a heater valve busted or is it possibly the water pump?

It`s easy to see if the water pump is working just drain some of the fluid out of the radiator and look inside while vehicle is running NOTE due this only when vehicle is cold.
Know if it`s not flowing after it starts to warm up then either the thermostat is stuck closed or the water pump is bad i would start with the thermostat if i where you the other job is a lot harder and more expensive
Also the fluid disappearance could be caused by the fluid boiling out when it gets hot one last note check pressure cap on radiator for wear or cracks if bad replace hope this helped you.

Prizm overheats, heater core leaks, no heat

You can bypass the core or fix it that's up to you but I would change or remove the thermostat first. If it still overheats then start looking at the water pump and radiator. Hope this helps. Good luck.

There is oil leakin from my car and the oil is running on the exaust pipe

Was an oil change done recently?

Check the oil filter adapter lto the engine block. its common for those to go bad after an oil change. you will have to get under the car to see. but when they go bad it leaks alot.

If thats not it i would say spray it down with degreeser and rinse with garden hose and watch closely when it dries for oil leak.

Car is making 'clunking' noises and is not excellerating properly

it could be your transmission.Try looking for a gasket seal between engine and trans or around the trans. look for where the leak is coming from.
