I use Mobil1 5w30 myself but i live in South Dakota with some very cold weather if you are in a warmer climate you can probably use 10w30.

10-30 standard, or Synthetic, it all depends on what you are using it for. I used synthetic on all of my vehicles until about 100k miles. Then I switch to standard oil. Works for me. Good luck.

It doesn't matter what grade or brand.
But keep in mind. Winter prefer 5-30 and summer 10-30.

How to changer oil transmission 4runner 2006

Automatic Trans Fluid Change?

Remove the trans pan.clean replace
with proper type fluid, keep it simple
& do it every 3 years never over 30,000
miles on any vehicle

Fluid Change will not fix a anything at all
If it slips it will slip worse with clean fluid

The oil breaks done after about 2 years
of use & can't remove heat, that is why you
change it & Power Steering at the same time

Hi i would just like to know what oil i can use in my 1989 toyota surf its a turbo diesel the manual says to use a sae 20w/40 cd or better but when i went to buy oil they sold me a 15w -40 api ch-4 is this...

Hi Sarah,

The 15W-40 apiCH-4 oil will be fine for your 4Runner. It is "better", and here is why....

Your new oil being "ch" grade vs "cd" meets the qualification of "better" grade oil. Oil detergents are constantly being modified and as the letters climb alphabetically, each higher letter means that the oil exceeds the requirements of the grade before it. The "-4" is a designation I do not recognize, so I have some more reading to do. It may just mean that you bought a 4 quart (or liter) container or package, but no matter what it represents, this oil is still better.
The "15W-40" designation means that at 0 degrees F or below, the oil behaves as if it is 15 weight oil, and at operating temperatures, it acts like 40 weight oil. This formulation is designed to make cold weather starting easier, since the oil will be "thinner". Since your new oil is still rated as 40 weight at operating temperatures, just like the manual specifies, You should do fine with it.
Make sure you check your oil level once a week, since your 4Runner has a few years on it, it may be "burning" more oil from normal engine wear.
It is very important to change your oil regularly, especially with a diesel engine. The oil picks up allot of contaminants and it gets dirty very fast in a diesel. Follow the oil change schedule in your manual, and you will be good2go!

Which oil is best for my 2007 4runner 35000 miles

Well, I can tell you the grade is 5w-30.

Non-synthetic you need to change the oil every 3,000 miles.

Full synthetic, you can go a little longer on oil changes. Like 4,000 to 5,000. Better for higher demand engines. Like hauling trailers and stuff.

As far as the brand, personally I like Valvoline. Other people have different brands they like. But, that just mine.

1997 4Runner oil quantity

For a V6 # Liter engine, you will use a galon and almost half (that is about 6 Liters of oil). I use a Toyota camry V6 3 Liter engine that shares the same engine with the Toyota 4Runner.

2006 Toyota 4Runner Sulfur smell

I noticed going from a Higher Grade gasoline as well as making sure I change my motor oil on a regular basis (3,000-5,000 mi)to solve this problem. When the car isn't driven at a high RPM for a while, and you go to a quick acceleration it causes this smell.
