I have a 2000 Oldsmobile silhouette mini van done replaced the thermostat but its still running hot

Your engine is notorious for having the intake manifold and gaskets go bad. If you are loosing water pull the #3 spark plug in the morning, when the engine is cool and see if there is moisture on the plug. If so you will need to have the top of the engine torn down, and at the least, change the intake gaskets.

How to get engine rolled forward in a pontiac 2000 van to change plugs

Hi, I have one too, changing plugs is a pain. for the back three plugs I had to put the van on car ramps and reach up from the bottom. There is not much room, but can be done without having to role motor. Good Luck

Why doesn't my Montana idle at start-up but only after 3 minute warming?

Sounds like your lower intake gaskets are leaking. It will get progressively worse if left go. When the engine is cold the gaskets are contracted and leak, as the engine warms the gaskets expand and close seal the leak.

The heater in my 2004 Pontiac Montana isn't putting out adequate heat. The blower is working fine.

THE 97-04 MONTANA HAS THE 3.4 ENGINE WHICH HAS AN ISSUE WITH FAULTY INTAKE MANIFOLD & HEAD GASKETS WHICH FAIL TO SUSTAIN CIRCULATION IN THE COOLING SYSTEM AND CAUSE AN INAEQUATE HEATING SITUATION. REPLACE WITH FELPRO GASKETS AND YOUR PROBLEMS ARE OVER, PROVIDING ENGINE IS NOT DAMAGED!

My check engine light is on and the vehicle is not running smoot

Have the code read to help you diagnos the problem. You can do this for free at advance auto. Need to find out what made the check engine light come on. It will not go off by itself and must be reset using the scan tool.

Any suggestions on changing back 3 plugs

THE BEST WAY TO DO IT IS FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VAN. I'M NOT SAYING THIS IS EASY BUT IT CAN BE DONE FASTER THIS WAY IF YOU HAVE A LIFT.

DON'T TRY THIS WHEN THE ENGINE IS HOT.

2003 Pontiac Montana antifreeze smell?

Bad News. I recently had the same type of smell ( no leaks or puddles either) coming from my van and had to have the intake manifold gasket replaced due to the Dex-cool issue. It appears GM installed an inadequate/substandard gasket when they built the van. My van only had 65,000 miles on it. There's a Dex-cool settlement you could have applied for but repairs had to be made by May of 2008.

This is the only real complaint I've had with the van.
