When idoling or driving car coolant starts boiling over at resevoir.I changed thermostat but did not help.when it boils over, temp is not even half way on gauge

Your coolant temp sensor may be defective, check wiring also, if this senor doesn't send the signal the Cooling Fan won't kick in. Fan will come on when temp reaches half way on gauge.

Good Luck!!

My brake light is on and i was told to get brake fluid but i dont know whereto put it i have a 1995 for contour

When you open the hood, look towards the back of the engine compartment on the driver's side. You'll see a round canister like part, about a foot in diameter. Attached to it is the master cylinder, which is usally silver, with steel lines going into it, with a plastic resevoir and a black cap. Remove the cap and put in the fuild in up to the "FULL" level on the resevoir.

95 contour 220.000k 4cyl 5 spd temp gauge goes over half and check engine light goes on almost instant but i still drive and temp goes down for a bit and light goes out only when i turn engine off and...

Coolant sensor may be the problem. It is located near the thermostat housing. It may be sticking between modes & not operating properly. Also make sure coolant is circulating in system.

The use in modern engines is not recommended because of the high temperatures encountered by the coolant. Etylene glycol or other antifreeze products also raise the boiling point of the water, to better avoid overheating. you will get it in professional garage shops or car repair shops but taske care you do not use water only object in plase of cooland if they suggest as it will damage the part.

1998 olds acheive low cooliant light on

Did you add coolant ? you are supposed to bleed the system after adding coolant. it also could be a bad Coolant temperature sensor which turns on the radiator fans. or a leak in the intake manifold gasket.Or even a bad thermostat. Does the heater work ? All of this can cause that problem.
