Question about 2000 Chevrolet Blazer

2000 blazer shuts down while driving as if choked for gas

My blazer was driving on a slightly uphill road last night when it shut down like it was out of gas. It has half tank, but when electrical is turned on, it shows empty tank. After cranking a few minutes with a rest, I heard what sounded like a trickle of fluid in the engine. I immediately cranked and it started right up.

The next morning, it fired up for 5 seconds in the driveway which also faces uphill, then died the same way. The truck again didn't fire up for twenty minutes or so, then cranked up strong as ever. I took it to the shop sure that it was the fuel pump, but they can't duplicate problem. "The fuel pressure looks great" ... and they don't want to change the pump if they aren't sure about it.

Truck has 140K on it... any ideas?!?

I don't know the pressure. The shop told me it looked good.

Did the truck ever have a fuel pump replaced? If it did it might have been put in the wrong way, where it is away from all the gas when its low enought and going up a hill.

I have a 2000 blazer when driving down the road it will shut off then turn the key off for few second and start right up and the battery is always dead down we change the fuel pump and filter and its is...

Almost sounds like a Alternator issue or even a bad battery might want to have them checked. If your alternator is going out the battery may not have enough juice to keep the fuel pump going this is the reason it will shut off. If your battery is bad then it will not hold the charge.

Last drove vehicle (98 Explorer) two weeks ago. Indicator shows 1/2 tank of gas. Truck will not start. It cranks at very good pace but does not seem to get fuel or spark? Vehicle is in the drive, parked on...

YES, the fuel cut off switch is located on the passenger side of vehicle. remove the side panel and on the firewall you will see a small black box with a red button, press red button down to activate. turn ignition on and you should hear pump turn on for a quick brief second.

Why would my blazer have a bad miss in it when i start it?

4.3 liter engine with port fuel injection unit nickname(the spider) if you try to look one up will cause this problem and it hassince 1995 when it first came out.I was on the North american research team (eastern seaboard) group with AC Delco to try to solve this problem. There was 3 different things causing this #1 poppet in 1 or 2 cylinders sticking open slightly during shut down and making that cylinder load slightly with gas which has to burn off on start was the pressure regulator inside plenum leaking and loading a couple of the cylinders. This is the most likly cause.

The other night I put gas in my car, about half way home the car hesitated and felt like it was going to shut off, so I gave it gas and it didn't. Now the car hesitates when I am driving. I put gas in it...

it may very well be that it is the fuel filter that is dirty, if the car bogs down when giveing it gas then it is usually the fuel filter.that needs replced or dirt could have got into injectors, put some fuel injector cleaner in tank. and change fuel filter.

Engine shut down

Sounds like the fuel pump is the most likely suspect. The fule filter could also play a role in preventing the fuel under pressure from reaching the engine going uphill. If you haven't changed the fuel filter recently, change it either way, then you can rule it out if the problem persists.
