You are correct in your assumption there is an internal breaker in the main light switch and will cause the lights to go on and off

Make sure all the connections to the headlights themselves are good and tighten them if they need it. or it may be a distributing problem in which case u may need to replace the distributer.

2000 ford xlt 4.0 Is it normal for the theft device light to blink when sitting in the SUV with key out when I put key in it stays on

It should blink fast any time the key is removed or in the off position. When you turn the key to on it will be on steady for a few seconds to show that the light works. Once you start the vehicle the light should not be on or flashing.

I have a 2005 ford f 150, When there is no key in the ignition there is a steady clicking/ticking sound coming from behind the passenger seat. The headlights are dim. An I cannot shift out of park

Well not sure about the ticking or dim headlights. but if you start you engine and pull the positive wire off the battery. If it keep running thats a good thing. if the motor stalls then your alternator is not working. Try to check the fuses. some thing like this is always overlooked and many times is the problem. Next to the shift on top or the side there is usually a little button you pop out and you can put a small screw driver in the hole, this is an emergency release. The car usually has this safety feature so your can won`t get stolen without the key..Also try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes can reset the system and correct some small issues.

2002 ford windstar headlights blinking and guages bouncing as if i was turning key forward. how do i solve this

starter switch usually mounted on top of steering column, actuated with a metal rod. Remove mounting screws for column, lower it down to access the starter switch. Ford typically mounts them here, like this:

Why wont the headlights won't go on

It can have a bad headlight switch, but most often it is a bad high beam switch on the floor.

Turn on the headlights and press the high-beam switch off and on a few times, if the headlights flash, flicker, or start working again then replace the high-beam/dimmer switch.

Did you turn the key in the door lock? Or just shut it off with a remote? Try turning the key in the driver's door a few times, lock, then unlock, back and forth a few times - you may be able to reset the alarm that way. Try it, leaving it in each position for about five seconds, and after doing it, try starting the car. No guarantee but it's worth a shot since using the key in the driver's door is the backup for using the remote to arm/disarm the alarm system.
