The key should turn if you turn wheel as much as you can while turning key

Had this before but never so bad as today. Got WD40 into the lock (those little tubes help). Wiggled wheel and turned key and wiggled and turned and drew key out a bit but no luck. Hit key while fully in lock with hammer ( actually overdid it and thought i'd got key stuck - so be careful). But it worked! Must have loosened something that had stuck. Good luck and safe driving.

I had the same problem , I tried all sorts of jiggling didn't work , a mate came over and rocked the steering wheel left to right, while trying to turn the key ( But) while trying to turn the key, keep pulling the key out of the lock by small increments . This worked for us . when it happened to ours it was like the key was going in too far . Hope that helps . Kev
