Question about 1996 Ford F150 Regular Cab
The pickup is an automatic. If you put some weight behind it you can get the knob to move a little but it will never shift it into gear.
Let's start with the basics. Key has to be in the ignition and ignition turned to the run postion. Battery has to be charged up. Brake pedal has to be depressed so the shifter will unlock, . If the shifter will not move, it could be several things. A faulty shifter unlock cylinder or wirng problem. A binding shiter cable or shift lever problem at transmission, or a problem with the shifter assembly on the steering column.
