REDUCE ENGINE SPEED

WHILE DRIVING A CERTAIN DISTANCE THE REDUCE ENGINE FLASH ON MY MESSAGE BOARD AND WONT LET ME DRIVE PAST 35 OR 40 MPH

There is something going on with the electrical system.  I think it would be best to take it into a shop and pay $30 for an OBD2 diagnostics.  There are far to many things that could be causing it and to replace them one by one could end up costing thousands of dollars.  Best to have the diagnostic computer tell you what the problem is.

It's possible you may have a faulty air flow meter. Recommend a trip to the garage for an analysis. Motor will not achieve the speed it should have such a defect. OJS

I have a 2003 Envoy- GMC. Why does the reduce engine speed light come on


you need to scan you vehicles ECM, there is a trouble code stored there. depending on where you live most parts stores( such as a shucks/orielleys) will have a scan tool they will let you use if the vehicle is in thier parking lot. this should diagnose the issue, provided the battery hasnt been disconnected since then.

The reduce engine power light has came on I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer, what does this mean?


A lot of times it's a filthy or sticking throttle body. With this situation, the computer will throw the reduced engine power light as kind of a safe mode. A lot of times, you won't be able to go past a certain speed too. With the battery disconnected, clean your throttle body with throttle body cleaner. Must be shiny. When finished, drive around for 20 minutes or so, so your computer can re-learn the correct settings of a newly cleaned throttlebody. When driving for 20 min, make sure all accessories are off.

well your tranny is slipping check your tranny fluid make sure its not low on fluid

you may have a fuel flooding, try to replace your sparkplugs and hi tension wires. if the problem still exists try to replace the fuel filter and fuel pump. try draining your fuel tank too and get rid of the rust and dirt. hope this helps

Hello all,

I just wanted to share with everyone with the problem that I had withmy 2003 1500HD Crew Cab with 6.0 Liter. My truck would go into reducedengine power off and on. Sometimes one a week, sometimes 5 times on a20 mile trip. My problem was a broken wire on the plug in going in tothe throttle body. In the picture is the plug in that had caused me allof my pain and grief....... My problem was very intermittent and washard to diagnose. I started vehicle and with all codes clear. I wiggledthe wiring harness in the picture and vehicle spit and sputtered,throwing it into reduced engine power mode, and then smoothed out to asmooth idle. I disconnected the plug and pulled wires out of plug endand found a broken wire. Mine was a brown wire with white stripe. BUT,what was interesting, was that this vehicle had apparently had the smaeproblem with previous owner, becuz there was another wire (yellow wire)right beside the one that I found broken already soldered up and tapedfrom where it had apparently happened before. This was my problem andnot my truck is running great, and actually even idles better thatbefore. Hope this helps with any problems that anyone else is having. Iknow this problem can be very irritating.
