Question about 2001 Dodge Caravan
Recently we had a big snow storm and frigid cold wheater. Upon starting my van yesterday morning I noticed that everything on the dash lit up except for the Radio and clock and the radio did not produce any sound as well. The gauges and the background lights for the air controls, even the lights for the radio came on. Everything except for the clock and power for the radio. Does anyone know if the radio is on a seperate fuse or something? Also does anyone know what that fuse would be listed under because I checked the fuse box and I dont see anything about a radio. Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: 98 dodge caravan problems
I had the same issue with my dodge caravan and after several attempts by the dealer to fix it, it turned out to be a broken wire. They replaced the relay and it would work for a while and then go blank again. Have the wires checked thoroughly.

Did you try adjusting the dimmer for your dash lights? Did it feel different - like the knob was no longer connected?? If so, try pressing the knob to re-align it up to the threading to properly seat it. Then try turning it all the way to the right, to the brightest setting. Or try turning the other way if there is still no illumination. Make sure you have the key in the ignition and turned on to the same location where your radio, wipers, and all other accessories work (test to make sure they are working before trying the dash lights). And of course, you need to be out of bright sunlight and in an area where you can clearly see when the dash lights come on, even in the event that they come on very, very dim.
So if this all failed, I hate to say it but it means you gotta take apart your dash which usually means numerous other parts that may overlap. Find a good diagram or step-by-step instructions for your particular model. Then it will be a matter of checking the bulb(s) and making sure any of the wires did not become disconnected or damaged...
Good luck. Taking apart your dash to get behind it cant be any more difficult with your Dodge than it was when I had to do it to a Toyota a couple months ago... I had to remove the console between the front seats to remove the auto shifter assembly that overlapped with the bottom section of the dash...
alot of time and effort all for one little bulb replacement.

These vehicles seem to have a problematic short, my grandfather has the same vehicle with the same problem, i found the short under the carpet on the driver side of the vehicle, under the gas pedal, sometimes wires can crack and break.
