I use to have the same exact bike. Mine did the same thing. My problem was in the transmission. In mime it was the teeth of my first and second gear were damaged. The bike was too old to invest the money to fix it.The person who owned it before me had miss shifted alot.I did it once and that put the icing on the cake.

This model is bad about the overdrive gear coming apart and messing up the transmission. Better get it checked.

sounds like broken trans mount

check to see if it has a modulator valve it could be bad or a vacumm line off

is this a stick? either way , bad synchro in 1st to 2nd gear... Engine idle is affected when sitting still and applying brakes.... thats normal

Sounds like a bad countershaft bearing. The trans will need removed and disassembled to fix it.

Yes you can adjust the bands, but not for 1st gear. Of the two bolts you see, the front one is for 4th gear and the rear one is for 2nd. Is first gear the only problem you have? Does 1st gear work fine if you use manual 1st?

transmissions can be rebuilt if you have the time you can buy a rebuild kit and guide and do it yourself
