Question about 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager

I need to replace either the fan assembley $200 or fan relay $20

Trying to figure out which relay (there are about 9) is for the radiator fan. I have a friend that can replace either the relay or the fan but does not know which relay is for the radiator fan. Would like to try to replace this before dropping $200 on the radiator fan assembly.

No. I found out which was the correct relay. The fan is completely out. We hooked up a wire from the fan directly to the battery and it would not move. The van is 16 years old so I am not surprised that the fan would go out. I was able to find the entire fan assembly replacement for about $110. Thanks for the help.

Are you sure it is that and just not the temperature sensor that tells it to come on bad which is the cheapest part and make sure wire is not damaged or corrouded on it

2011 Radiator Fan does not work

Did you check for voltage at the fan terminals when it was supposed to be on? It's probably the temperature switch, but you have to trace voltage and bridge out the switch to check, which is what you should have done before spending 200$

MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE RADIATOR ONN 1999 VOYAGER,HE COULD NOT GET FAN TO WORK SO HE HOT WIRED IT TO THE BATTERY,HE GOT A SENSOR BUT CANT FIGURE OUT WHERE IT GOES- HELP!

HACK! the radiator relay is probably bad, located down near radiator left lower corner, bolted to frame, have to get at it from underneath. Be sure fuse #24 (40 amp) is good. A scanner should activate the fan if the relay is good, if not its probably bad, Make sure the fan does not pull more than 20 amps when running, if it does, that could have burned up the relay.

temperature switch. The temperature switch finishes the circuit for the cooling fan. Once the engine reaches the specified optimal temp. the switch completes the circuit and turns the cooling fan on. Hope this helps

What does the diagnostic test code P1491 means?

Hello jhonney21,

The P1491 is Radiator fan control relay circuit code. It is set if an open or short circuit is detected in the radiator fan relay control circuit.

My 94 Tracer temperature gauge reads between 3/4 and 7/8 in the normal range before the radiator fan turns on. I have already replaced the fan temperature switch and the relay. Could my temperature...

Yes, it is possible the temp. sender is faulty, but I would do a cross check of the actual coolant temperature vs gauge reading using a cooking thermometer in the top of the radiator.
Take care not to get scalded - check it at about 180 to 200 deg.

I had the same problem, took to a benz dealer, it was the fuel pump relay, cost for repair $200.
