On my 2003 Cavalier the fuel filter is located towards the drivers side right ubove and slightly to the front of the rear axle. I can get you some pics if you like. Thanks

If you look under the car it is at the back of the gas tank towards the trunk centered. tucked up next to a cross member. Doesn't look to bad to remove. I will be doing it this weekend. Good luck.

2004 cavalier stalled on highway wont start

DEFINITELY change the filter...It's only about ten times past its useful life. Then check fuel pump, pump relay and fuse. (doubt if you'll have to!!)

2005 cavalier fuel filter

its above the rear axle, slightly towards the front and it looks kinda like a soup can with a hose off each end. My 03 cavalier has a threaded line on the drivers side and a plastic clip holding the hose on the other side. took me about 15 minutes to change it. Needed a couple wrenches and a few rags. Pretty easy though
