On my 98 ford explorer it is below the glovebox in the foot well area on the forward right hand side, red button on top, cannon plug connects to the bottom side of it right where the carpet ends

The fuel pump shut-off switch is
located in the passenger’s foot well,
behind the side kick panel.

What does the fuel reset indicator on the panel stands for? Ford explorer 98

Fuel Reset
The FUEL RESET indicator is grounded through the inertia switch whenever the vehicle is subjected to a high force situation. The inertia fuel shutoff switch (IFS switch) (9341) cuts off the fuel pump motor. The FUEL RESET indicator illuminates when the IFS switch has been tripped

Turns over, won't start

Make sure you hear the fuel pump run for a coupla' seconds when you turn key to on.You might need to push the fuel pump inertia reset button(for collision purposes,it shuts off pump).
Next check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail feeding the injectors. It's like a tire valve, but it has pressurized fuel so be careful, and check only a cool engine with the switch in `run' position, engine not running.

YES, the fuel cut off switch is located on the passenger side of vehicle. remove the side panel and on the firewall you will see a small black box with a red button, press red button down to activate. turn ignition on and you should hear pump turn on for a quick brief second.

98 ford explorer fuel pump only work for one second than shut off when you crank the engine the fuel pump shut off

Check the fuel pump relay connections, the Explorer is bad about connection corrosion at the relays, try unplugging it and sticking it back in. Hope this help, let me know.

Replaced battery and starter. My 2004 ford explorer will not start. Auto zone checked battery it was bad and checked starter it was also bad. Both replace will not start

this is a stupid idea but one of my co-workers have a 98 explorer and she lost the chip in her key. after that it still wouldnt start turns out the anti-theft kicked in and they had to reset the fuel shut off switch. your battery replacement maybe did the same? not sure where your switch is but hers was up under her passenger side floor board up front somewhere around the kick panel it was a purdy red button

Lossing a lot of gas,tune up done,is there a fuel reset button,if so,where

pass. front kickplate, but it does not reset anything- the only time you need to push it is when the vehicle won't start at all. has nothing to do with the amount of fuel used. you could check the fuel pressure regulator, hows it running?

Fuel Filter Changed

What happens when you remove air intake from throttle body & spray a little wd-40 in to the throttle body, and try to start? If it starts and runs temporarily, you've still got a fuel delivery problem. That coffee color worries me, like maybe your fuel lines etc are plugging up with rust etc, from inside tank. Have you added any fuel system cleaner to gas lately?
