Disconnect battery reconect after 5 mins on reconnection rear window will go down , use key in rear lock to reset rear window, door lock should now work, if not try rear door relays behind left hand rear panel.

Try a hard restart, if that doesnt work then you need a new rear window motor. for the hard restart all you have to do is disconnect the battery cables and touch the positive and negative together for about 8 seconds. if that fails then a new motor it is.

You have to unlock the door with the remote and then pull the handle and the window will lower about an inch and then the door will open

Hi, will the rear tailgate not open ? Have you tried testing the fuse it should be located under the bonnet/ hood back right hand side F 31 .this window is more complex than others given that doors need to be unlocked, tailgate opening handle switch needs to function .

Freelander tailgate won't open

first with the door closed you can still get to the nuts that hold the tailgate switch/handle remove the cover from the inside there is 8 clips also 4 screws on rhs of door!.once you have the complete tailgate cluster off remove the 2 screws and 2 springs holding the handle microswitch, then use a small screw driver or something small to push the metal locating pin of the handswitch then use some spray greece or WD40 on the microswitch which is probable just stuck in,try get it switching by push it manually a few times this should fix the problem!.that is asuming that the actual door lock is still working fine!.hope this helps!.Good luck!.

Freelander 1 drivers door will not open with the fob will open with the key

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Try spraying wd40 on the door lock mechanism inside the door shell. It may just be a little stuck and lubrication can help.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

'02 Freelander 5dr. Tailgate will not open, the window drops but not enough to release tailgate, the window works fine off the facia switch, but the door will not open. How can I open th door ?.

I think that you will need to remove the inside panel of the tailgate to find the exact problem. I would suggest that you take it to an auto glass proffesional (like The Glass Doctor) and have them look at it. They do this every day. If you are going to do the work yourself maybe one of the techs there will let you pick his brain a little.
