I'm looking to see if my book has a picture. I found the horn itself behind the right wheel well cover. My 1996 horn was nicely corroded from being exposed to the elements. I spliced the wires and mounted the new one under the hood.

Horn wont blow

Check for blown fuse first. If fuse ok, you will have to check for a power and ground supply directly at the horn itself. Possible causes are... defective horn...blown fuse.... defective horn relay....defective horn pad.... defective clock spring..... broken wiring. There is a lot of electrical diagnostics that need to be performed to make this simple horn operate

How do I wire an after market button so I can use my horn? Why can't I get the plug where the wires are unpluged?

First, mount the button where you want it. Then, run one wire to your battery, the other to your horn Horn should already be grounded. Yes, it really IS that simple!

Horn works sometimes on stearing wheel and keyost on my 2003 suburban 1500LT then sometimes it doesn't

keyost?

bad ground to horn
bad relAY TO HORn
bad wires to all horn circuits
bad horn button.
bad clockspring contacts in steering hub.

no matter way we use a voltmeter to solve this, riddle in 5min work.

i always start in the middle (training) to make 1/2 the possible go byebye in 1 simple test.
ask.
if the relay dont pull in at failure, bingo. 1/2 problem solved.
is this clear?
that would say the relay is bad, or power to it lost
or the horn button path is dead.
causing 2 more simple tests.
ask. if you own a $10 meter... volt meter. of any kind ever made.

The horn on my Mercedes c180 Elegance 1995 n reg automatic isnt working, but when the alarm is set off the horn sounds..is there a simple fix for it ?

Hi paul, If the vehicle has air bags the problem very well may be the unit inside the steering wheel. The unit carries the connections for a number of operations and problems occur when a cable in the unit breaks. Regards John

Hey, I have a rail buggy that I need to wire a horn to. I do not have a fuse box and want to wire the horn up after the ignition so you will have to have the key on to use the horn. I bought a generic...

you have a rail that has no fuse box..??? i would first install one.. simple though the ignition switch has to turn on the ignition tomake the vehicle rune... find the wire the is used to power the coil... tap into it i suppose using a relay with its own power wire to compensate for the amperage draw of the horn. when the ignition is on the horn work wen it is off the horn wont

Horn not working looking for fuse

First check fuse then relay. If trouble finding obtain repair manual.
Basic diagnostic method is to start at the horn(s). There should be two wires. One is negative the other positive. If connections good. You will need a voltage tester and a jumper lead. A simple 12 volt bulb can be used as a tester. Pull one of the horn wires and attach tester then attach other tester lead to negative. Test horn. If no indication repeat with other horn wire (don't confuse horn connections). If voltage present Horn defective. Next check for voltage at relay. If voltage in to relay but not out replace relay. If no voltage in to relay replace fuse. If still not found then problem is with horn switch or wires between.
