Sounds to me like you should start by checking the battery. However, it could also be the ignition switch. Try turning the key to the "ON" position, but do no try to crank the engine. If you can hear a whining noise (the fuel pump), I'd be more inclined to say it's an issue with the battery or starter. If you can't hear anything still, I'd lean more towards a totally dead battery or a bad ignition switch. If the lights are on on the dash and seem to be bright and not dim when trying to start, it's probably more on the ignition switch end of things. Electrical problems when having a "no-start" issue can be very tricky to trace. It could even come down to a blown fuse for the ignition switch.
I know that's a lot to look into, but no-start problems tend to take more diagnostics than most other issues.
