Replacing power steering hoses - 2001 Concorde

I need to replace both the pressure hose and the return hose for the power steering in my 2001 Concorde. The repair shop wants over $1100.00 to do this. Is this something a backyard mechanic can do himself or are special tools required? I hate being taken to the cleaners.

You can but what are the price of the parts .just a pain to get at the fittings just make sure they are the right hoses and they are put back on the high pressure and low pressure sides .cut the old ones and tap a socket over the fitting rather then wrench might strip it and have troubles geting out and root them the same spot the old ones came from

How to repair power steering leak?

You need to first diagnose what is leaking. Most power steering leaks are in the pressure hose but not always. Pressure hoses will have screw on fittings and return hoses will usually just have spring clamps or screw type clamps on the end of the hose. Pressure hose most likely, return hoses 2nd, failing rack and pinion assy 3rd and pressure pump last. If its leaking from the bellows on the end of the rack and pinion the you will need a reman unit. Presure pumps are also remanufactured if thats what you need. hoses are replaced with new hoses or standard return hose for the return line.

How do i repair power steering return hose

power steering hose are under alot of pressure, you don't repair them, you replace them. Even the return lines, although they're lower pressure, you still need the heavy duty hose for it.
