My 1999 toyota camry power steering gets real hard to turn sometimes. I checked the fluid and it is full. Sometimes it gets hard than other days. What is the problem so I can fix it?

SOURCE: steering wheel hard to turn on my 1989 toyota camry

power steering belt broken or fell off, or the pump is out of oil. The pump is down on the right hand side (passenger) between the fire wall and the engine. You should be able to see if the belt is still on. Check the resevoir for oil. It is on the same side. It's a little plastic pot with a dipstick. Let me know how you make out.

How do u bleed a power steering on 89 camry

It's pretty much self bleeding, With the cap off the power steering reservoir turn the wheel as far as it will go one way then turn fully the other way, keep going back and forward until the bubbles stop coming up and it becomes quiet. Sometimes you need to add power steering additive to completely remove the air bubbles.

Steering is hard to turn

If it is hard to turn in both directions check power steering pump fluid level. Also with both front wheels off the ground key on engine off, turn the tires manually at one of the front tires and turn with the steering wheel engine off. Check for binding (they will require effort to turn) you are looking for a change in effort.
