Cavaliers have a problem with plugs, that is probably cause. first check that fuse is OK (light comes on when defog is pressed) It should auto shutoff after 10 mins, if that is OK then check the plug. On driver's side, just beside the hood release, pull the kick panel carpet away. You will see a green plug, press on centre to open it. Find the PURPLE wire and check that contact - it is probably corroded. You can clean it, will help for a while. The best solution is to solder the two connections together (bring it to garage if not comfortable and tell them the Purple and black wires need to be soldered. Should solve the problem

Which fuse box on the 2011 Chevy Malibu is the fuse for the rear defrost

Fuse box rear , fuse #23 30 amp ! Do you know where this is located ? There is also a relay for the Rear window defogger , located in the same rear fuse box .
Fuse Block - Rear
Left side of the luggage compartment, behind the left rear wheel well . But you really need to know how it works , you can check fuse an relay .
Rear Window Defogger Operation
Battery positive voltage is supplied through the BATT 1 fuse in the underhood fuse block to the rear defog relay switched input. When the rear defog switch button is pressed, the body control module (BCM) energizes the rear defog relay by providing a B+ to the control circuit of the rear defog relay. This allows battery positive voltage from the relay switched input through the switch contacts and out the relay switched output to the rear window defogger grid. The HVAC control module houses the rear defog switch and also illuminates the rear defog indicator on the switch button, upon this request. Ground for the rear window defogger grid is provided by G301 for the Sedan or G302 For the Extended Sedan.

What size alternator is in a 2.2 l engine is it 80 or 100 amp?for a 1994 chevy cavalier

You should have a 100 amp or the optional 105 amp. 105 amp was more common with A/C as an option for the cavalier and the 100 was without. Regardless there the same alternator, 105 amp alternator just has it's rectifier set higher then the other so your better off with the 105 if you can get one.

Good luck and thank yo for using Fixya.

I have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier the heater and the rear defogger doesnt work both quit working at same time

Try taking a hose off the heater core for the front heater to see if your core is blocked, this might indicate a core cleaning.  As for your rear window defogger, the wire that usually feeds the  heater might be severed or cracked and you might not get a proper contact. Take the small plug off the heater strip and stick an Ohm meter on it to see if you have an open or closed circuit.

2002 Alero defogger

A common thing to fial on these- assumning the grid is ok, and wires are still attched to grid, is the rear def / antenna module. It is behind rt. rear quarter trim panel. The modules burn up, and also melt the connector. the module and connector would need to be replaced.

Chev Cavalier 2003 only one rear turn/brake/hazard light

I have a 2002 Chev Cavalier that had the same exact problem. I replaced the bulb harness (purchased from a chevy dealership for around $5) which was fairly easy to do. I have had zero problems with it since.
