Shoudl be if memory serves me correctly located right behind your centre console but mor behind the dashboard, if not under there you should find inspection hatch under bonnet more or less under wipers.

98 mercury mystique oroblems

Two different problems. Check the linkage between the ignition switch and the transmission interlock. Also check for a brake-light interlock - if the brake lights don't light when you press the brake pedal, the brake light switch may be the cause of that problem.

As to the fan... are we talking about the heater/AC fan or the radiator cooling fan? Either may be as simple as a blown fuse - check the fuseblock under the hood.

Where is the resistor pack located that is in the heater circuit, for a 1998 mercury Mistique?

Might be the Resistor pack located close to the blower. Could be under the dash or under the hood, but always close to the blower itself. Usually has a flat connector with 4 or 5 wires, and two small screws holding in the duct. It may be a crispy critter. It happens... The blower moves air across it to keep it cool. The blower motor may be bad as well, or possibly the fan speed switch. May very well be the fuse for the blower as well. The blower connector may be loose. Let me know what you find.

it seems to be on the heater hose where it connects to the heater or firewall. it's in line on the hose and has a vacuum line running to it. You can have a try.

How come heater fan wont blow

there are a few things that will cause this problem.
1. it could be the heater fan fuse
2. could be the heater fan motor itself
3, a bad switch or relay

check the fuse and then check for voltage at the heater motor itself, if you have voltage at the heater motor,, give the heater motor box a love tap with your hand and see if it starts to turn, if it does not turn or even if it does ( after tapping it ) - it is time to replace the heater motor.

98 mercury sable air conditioner problem

sounds like a loose power connector to the fan speed switch, or the fan itself. See local mechanic, not dealer

if you are sure all of the above is correctly installed then the only othet thing i can think of if it isnt loosing coolant is either the guage or the sender unit is faulty,
if its not loosing coolant and the radiator isnt filled with muck then it really cant be anything else.
one other thing might sound silly but check that the thermo fan if its got one is coming on or if there is a plastic bag or something blocking the radiator
