Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

4WD not working

My 4WD has not been working in my car for a couple of years now. I took it to AutoZone to see why the check engine light was on and it said there was a short in a wire to the transfer case.

What happens with my car is when I hit 4HI or 4LO or Auto 4 it will just keep blinking. When I hit 2 it will go straight to solid. I can hear a motor running like it is trying to shift when I first hit any of the buttons to shift into or out of 4WD.

So here's what I have tried so far...I removed the kick panel on the passenger side to reveal (what I was told was) the transfer case. I inspected all the wires to the make sure there were no breaks or loose wires. Then I tried cleaning the contacts and used dialectic grease. I have a multimeter and would test the voltage coming down each wire but I don't have a wiring diagram so I don't know what they are supposed to be. Am I working on the right path or should I try something else? I know this was a problem with a lot of the Blazers.

This is probably not the solution you would want to hear, but I would say forget about it. Chances are there is something wrong with the wiring harness and that might cost you a pretty penny.
Either that, or you'll never find the cause of the problem or it be too much of a pain to repair it.
However for wiring diagrams, go to the dealer and see if they can print you out a copy of the diagram showing the four wheel drive push button system from their maintenance manual.

Check engine light on, first two speeds for the fan for heat and air conditioner won't work. . .

First off, the check engine light is for something else -- you can go to a parts store (O'Reilly's/AutoZone/Advance, etc...) and they can scan it for free.

For the lower blower speeds not working, I've had this happen to me a couple years back, it's likely the blower motor resistor pack -- which is a small (2"x4" or so) curcuit board with a modular plug on one end that is in the blower motor housing all the way in the front of the passenger side foot well -- that's gone bad, I think it was around $30 for the part online, and $50 locally, (best to call and make sure as it was almost 2 years ago that I replaced mine)

It can be done yourself, but it's in a tight spot, I think it's like 3 or 4 screws holding the fan housing together and 2 for the resistor pack, it took me about an hour and that was with pretty much no clue as to what I was doing

Take it to Autozone or some place that will do a free OBDII scan for that check engine light. Get the code that it pulls up and we can help from there.

2001 Isuzu Rodeo 4WD. CHeck Engine light on and

After market spark plugs could be the problem.
Reinstall the old plugs and see if that fixes it.
This vehicle has an ion sensing ignition system and is real sensitive to the proper spark plugs. I would get the proper plugs from the dealer if the old ones work.
The codes P1311 and P1312 are ion sensing codes.

Check engine light is on. Took it to AutoZone and

They meant the car is running "lean". It is getting to much air or not enough gas to the carburator.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light

make sure the gas cap is on tight. vapor recovery system depends on the closure of the gas cap. if that did not solve your problem, I would suggest to get a new gas cap first, before going to the dealer or any repair shop for a turn-up.

01 Ford Expedition. Check Engine light and failed Smog check.

whoever installed the egr valve, if it wasnt you, just cleared the engine codes, thus giving you this problem once again. Get it scanned at autozone, and go from there.
