Question about 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I have a 1993 jeep grand cherokee. recently there was a hole put in the trans pan and the jeep shut off. I repaired that and after a week of driving it died while driving. Every Time I turn the key on it blows the trans fuse in the relay box. Any ideas would be great. It cranks but will not fire due to this

Sounds like the rear main oil seal on your motor is leaking. In order for it to be replaced, the transmission has to be removed. Not an easy task for the backyard mechanic.

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee transmission slips in overdrive

sounds like a possible shift solenoid. If it's due for a fluid change, do that and add a container of lucas trans conditioner. Likely you have a drain plug on the pan so if the fluid was recently serviced, just drain a quart out and replace with the additive, then top off.
If the condition does not change within a week, likely you will need better diagnosis from a reputable trans shop.

93 Jeep Grand Cherokee only revs when put in gear.

Three ways to check:
first: check if the shift cable is in position, cick down cable too..
-next: check if the torque converter is connected to the engine.
- remove the oil pan from the auto trans and check if the oil filter is in place. If you look to the right front side of the tranny, you see a lid with a coil spring in it. check if the spring is ok.
- if tranny is open, check for metal pieces or clutch material in the oil pan and the filter unit. If you find more than usual, replace the transmission.

Count the bolt holes and you should have a matching number of bolts. All the same size and length. you can also use the pan gasket for the pattern.

2002 jeep grand cherokee auto trasn is not changing gears

Personally, I'd drop the trans pan and give a look...but, best advice I can give you is to get to a REPUTABLE trans shop ASAP and not drive it unless its an emergency 'till then (more you drive, more damage you will do) The way a transmission is assembled, makes just about anything impossible without teardown.
And yes...only one filter in there.
