How to disable the daytime running lights 2004 Subaru Outback LLB

I want to disable the daytime running lights on my 2004 Subaru Outback LLBean so my newly installed HIDs work properly. HIDs flicker when in DRL mode due to lower voltage which affects the HID ballast performance. Where is the DRL module located? HIDs work great when main light switch is turned on.

Yes, I ruled out Subaru for help early on in regard to disabling the DRLs. Subaru would not even return calls after my initial inquiry. I did a workaround to disable the DRLs by unbolting the DRL switch in the center console which is activated by the hand brake. I then re-grounded the DRL switch and the DRLs stay off. The only drawback is the hand brake light on the dash stays on all the time. This light can be easily disabled however.

Also, I did find solutions to prevent the flickering so that the DRLs do not need to be disabled. However, the HIDs are at full intensity in DRL mode (HID bulbs cannot operate at reduced intensity like halogen bulbs).

Sorry to inform you, but I have been trying to solve this problem for a customer of mine who is in the military. Subaru will not release any information on how to do this.

Sounds like the belt let go and maybe got jammed on the way out. The belt power the alternator, power steering pump and water pump etc. Check for a seized pulley as well. Sometimes the little bearings go.
