I HAVE A 1991 FORD F150 WHITE SMOKE FROM TAILPIPE AND ENGINE RATT
WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS WHITE SMOKE COMES OUT AND THE ENGINE MAKES A RATTLE SOUND LIKE A BAD VALVE I LET GO OF THE ACCELERATOR AND IT STOPS SMOKING, STARTS UP FINE AND IS NOT MISSING TOO BAD. WHAT CAN IT BE?

Sounds as if you are running extremely lean.Has EGR been bypassed maybe?
What is fuel pressure,on that vehicle the fuel pressure regulator may be adjustable. Some of these had an allen screw inside the vacuum port where you could richen the mixture some. Also try backing down on the timing a few degrees.

sounds like your cat converter has broken up and is now plugging you exaust.turn off engine crawl under truck and bang on cat converter with piece of wood if it rattles cat is bad. but dont just replace it because something caused it to go bad, number one reason of broken cat is a hard missfire so if runs rough fix that first.number two reason is to rich fuel mixture is it burns the eyes smells bad or has black soot or smoke coming out the tailpipe fix that first also.
sounds like you have a regulator problem if your fuel pump has a built in regulator it might have went bad or if it is separate from the fuel pump it may be bad. fuel injected engines have to reicive the right amount of fuel if your regulator is not workin its dumpin to much fuel into the engine
Check the heat shield to the exhaust manifolds, good chance that the bolts on them have rusted off or is loose causing the Heat Shields to rattle making the tinny rattle noise. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know if that's making the noise, and if not we can look at other things.
the blue smoke is an idicator of burning oil. this could be either bad valve seals or bad oil rings on the piston. with the loss of power and the ratteling noise nit would seem that you have a valve issue in the heads. now either the valves are not seating properly or or the lobes on the cam itself is worn and what you are hearing is the rocker arms slaping. Considering the age of the vehicle you have the option of either having the engine rebulit(that's if the blue smoke is from bad rings) or if you just have the top end done, there will be a substantial cost. or you can get rid of it. please rate this
