Posititve battery cable for a 2000 volkswagen jetta, this part has 2-cords attached. 1-gets attached to the alternator and the other attaches to the fuse box that sits on the top of the battery. Is the only place I can get this is a dealer?

Did the battery cable melt on top of the fuse box? If so you will need more parts than just the cable.

Check your battery charging rate. A possible alternator or battery failure.
If the battery is charging at around 14volts, then replace the battery.
If its charging anywhere below 13.5, then replace the alternator.

My car

to truly eliminate the alternator you have to disconnect from the wires over night to see if battery is still drained good chance that alternator is the also can put a test light in between the battery and the ground cable (negative)as you disconnect the alternator you should see a difference in the test light. the bulb will dim down if alternator is draining the power.

2000 jetta gl, Seat does not latch in place. Drivers seat

Look for nuts inside rails where seat is attached to floor, if not, observe under vehicle in that area for nuts to remove that are attached to studs coming down through floor.
