Question about 1999 Dodge Ram

1999 dodge ram 1500 loses acceleration at 20 mph. Was driving down the road this morning and it just lost acceleration. When I gave it some gas, it sounded like a muffled noise under the cab.

Same problem on my 94 1/2 ton 4X4. Cataletic converter was the problem. Took it to a shop and they had it a week before towing to Dodge to have them figure it out. They figured it out in 15Min. Had it towed to the exhaust shop, and $1500 later I was driving it. We thought is was the fuel pump, which is in the tank, so you have to drop the tank to get to it, my fuel level did not work, so we started there, new fuel pump and sender. Chaged out spark plugs and rotor, but nothing worked. All this for a a $100 part. That was three years ago, and the problem came back, that is why I am on here, just looking for why my Cat keeps clogging. Truck works fine while it is cool, after about two miles, and the cat gets hot, it wont run!

truck would gain acceleration up until around 15 to 20 mph. It would then lose all power and the more I pressed on the gas the more it would wind up and lose more power. Ended up being the catalytic converter. I have had issues with the dealership mechanics misdiagnosing issues before so I took it to a private shop and the mechanic diagnosed the problem right away. $600 and it worked out great.

Sounds like you overheated, the clicking sound could be preignition ping. Check coolant lever. Don’t fill when hot, let engine cool down before refilling coolant

1999 Dodge Ram van 1500 no pick up power

I had a similiar problem on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Conversion Van. It ended up being a partial collapse of the catalytic converter which didn't allow adequate exhaust. The problem only showed itself because I could not get over 55 mph going up a small hill.

2004 Dodge Ram 1500, 4.7L V8, rattle/knock

If it's doesn't sound like it's your engine which i am thinking not. Check to see if there any heat shield that may have come lose, like the heat shield to the spark plug wire or heat sheild along the down pipe.
Good luck and hope this was the rattling your taking about as it heats up it expands and tighten's up.

Low whine while under load

The pinion depth is incorrect in the differential. This can cause excess backlash, improper bevelled gear meshing, and permanent damage to the gear set. It can be repaired most of the time by changing the shims on the pinion to allow 0.010" more penetration o the pinion into the housing.

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 club cab. I have had my a/c recharged but it is only blowing barely cold air. It used to shut down when I accelerated and blow hot air before. I don't have that problem anymore except barely cold air. Any solutions?
