can you confirm fuel is at the motor through the fuel pressure tap at the motor. Can you get ahold of a fuel pressure gauge and get a reading. Have you located the fuel regulator? $68 part on the side of the "carb" /intake with a vacuume line. If it leaks fuel through vac line when removed, it's bad. Takes 2 mins to replace. Any check engine light? if there is , can u retrieve an obd code?

Check under hood fuse box. Look for fuel pump fuse and starter relay fuse. They are both the same size. Take them out and bend the 4 prongs outward a little bit. Reinsert and try. This will help them make contact inside fuse box. This is a common problem.

I don't know if this is the problem, but its worhth looking into. On the tahoes, if the gas cap was defective, the motor would just shut down. Something to do with a vac canistor error.

No offense meant but how often do you check the oil and water? on the newer models there is a safety shutoff for low oil and/or water

2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 randomly will not start. It tries to turn over, acts like it is out of fuel. It appears if I pump it a little and wait approx. 20 mins. it will start. May be a coincidence...

In my opinion it sounds like the fuel pump. For some reason from 2000 to about 2008 the fuel pumps go bad between 65,000 and and 105,000 on that model

2001 chevy silverado 4.8 gas gauge not working properly

Fairly common problem with GM vehicles. The sending unit in your tank has a small circuit board that an arm is attached to which moves up and down according to your fuel level. This circuit board and arm are not making good contact. Unfortunately the only good solution is to replace this part.
