When it snows and the car sits for two days (outside)the snow melts on the winshield and drains down on the transmission and freezes so it can not be shifted. This has happened twice.

Someone suggested that I leave the car run for about an hour. I did let it run (not an hour) and I finally got it in reverse then in drive. Thanks

Airblown snow globe instructions

"snow" is small styrofoam pellets that get sucked into the blower on the bottom..there is a sort of recycleable drain in the base that allows the pellets to be reblown over and over..HOWEVER if the unit gets wet, the pellets stick together and will not go through until dried out..to dry.. use a hot air blowdryer to heat the material carefully ..as it is nylon.. it can melt...then the pellets and drain may need unplugged..(unstuck)

My son inherited a 1994 Mercury Sable with 12,000 miles that hasn't been driven since 2006 and sat outside in snow and sun. Repairs will cost $2,300. What are odds transmission won't work eith

Well anything is possible, but I would expect the transmission to work given the time and mileage.
Is there any way you could drive it a short distance before spending much money ?
I am assuming you are having the fuel tank drained and the cooling system flushed among other things.
I would change the fluids and try to drive it a few blocks before spending money on much else to see what it will need.

Truck sat outside in blowing snow now will not start. i have pushed it inside and all snow melted in motor , still not start

Check for snow to have entered the air filter housing and clogged the air filter. If the snow has melted, look for the filter to be soaked with water--which will also cause a no start.

The winshield wipers stopped working on my 2006 kia sportage during a snow storm. how do i fix them

Did you check the fuse? (most likely culprit) Sometimes during heavy snow the motor gets overloaded gets hot and blows the fuse.

Wipers stopped working .. got gas, then stated the car, wipers wont work. Its 28Degrees and snowing.. whats up

There was probably melted snow around the wiper arm bottoms and there was just enough heat from the engine compartment to keep it melted, when you stopped for gas the heat went away and it froze solid. get the car good and warmed up and lay a thick towel or blanket over the wipers and the cowl area and let it sit for awhile and build up some heat in there and see if they start working again. also turn heat on defrost so you are heating it from both sides.

I live in Boones Mill Virginia which borders Roanoke. I was driving home in a snow storm last Friday and suddenly my check engine light came on. When I arrived at the baby sitter's house, I turned the car...

Change the mass air flow meter. Its located on the inlet pipe from the air filter. Also change the air filter. That gets damp in cold and snowy conditions causing the fuel mixture to be to ritch. That will cause the engine management light to come on.Good luck phil.

Alight i have a 1999 mercury cougar and a light popped on the other day and i have no clue what it means. the light is on the headliner bundle of lights. please help. thrashbash_sk8r@yahoo.com

If the light on your cougar has a wrench on it then this is your "Interval Maintenance light", it comes on when your car is due for a scheduled maintenance as prescribed in your owners manual (oil changes, transmission fluid, etc). Another light located on the upper cluster is the "Outside Temp Freeze Warning Light", this light looks like a yellow or red snow flake, if this light is yellow it means it's nearly freezing outside (so watch for slippery roads), and if this light turns red it means that it's 32 degrees or lower

97 Maxima stuck in snow, but no wheel movement?

mbogucanin82: There are potentially a number of things it could be.
1. If one of the drive axles popped out of the transaxle, you can put it in ay gear you want but the car will not show any signs of even an attempt to move.
2. I you broke an inner CV joint, it would demonstrate the same,
A broken outer joint would have the drive axle flailing away under the car.
3. If this has a manual transmission, the clutch could have come apart which would make it impossible to transfer power from the engine to the input shaft of the transmission.
4. If it is a automatic, have you checked the level of fluid in the transmission? It is possible you may have damaged a cooler line which would cause the fluid to be pumped out when you started the engine.
I would venture that you will find the solution in one of these that I listed and you won't have to wait for the snow to thaw.
Good Luck>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
