No fluids are consumed on any vehicle

So why would you be adding, unless you have
a leak to repair

Have a repair shop educate you

SOURCE: Where is the power steering pump and fan located

the power steering pump is located at rear engine under the exhaust manifold and the fan is fitted under the pump, the fan is easy to replace but the pump is a bit hard if you never done before.

Where do you put the steering fluid in for a 2006 mini cooper? There's nothing in the owners manual about steering fluid.

Every answer here is wrong. Your Mini Cooper has electric power steering. No service required. That is why it does not list fluid type in your owner's manual.

MINI ONE POWER STEERING COMES AND GOES AFTER PUMP REPLACED

2 posible solutions to your problemone is that the rack and pinion unit has a restriction inside. if you remove the return line to the power steering pump and hold over a pan start engine and the pump will push old fluid into the pan instead of recirculating back into the system. you must keep power steering pump full of fluid because the return fluid is being pumped out of the system.also some models have an electric sensor switch on the pressure line that adjusts pressure by how fast the car is going.faster the car travels less power steering pressure

I would start by checking the power steering fluid level. then check the belt to make sure it's ok. Make sure there's no leaks...
P/S pumps don't go out often ,but it may be if every thing else is ok.
Start with the simple stuff first..

Where do you add power stering fluid?

The power steering reservoir looks to be right next to a clear fluid reservoir, most likely for coolant but could be windshield washer fluid. Its a small black reservoir. It takes Pentosin chf 11s hydraulic fluid.
