Question about 2000 Volkswagen Beetle

2 Answers

I just purchased a 2000 VW Beetle 1.8 Turbo but, there was no Owner's Manual included with the car. A light has come on my dashboard and i don't know what it's for. It's a blue light in the shape of a thermometer with several wavy lines horizontally across the thermometer. Does anyone know what the light is for?

If the light goes out after engine gets alittle warm, this is normal. Since there is no temp guage, VW uses this light to inform that the engine is cold. When that same light flashes red, it means that the coolant is low or the engine is overheating.

Can also be faulty if it flashes , it happened to mine and you need to replace the temp gauge not that expensive . Seems to be faulty in the early new beetles

I have a 2000 vw beetle turbo manual transmission when i try to drive it it is not going into each gear could it be the clutch?

Does it grind the gears in the transmission. If yes, it could be the clutch/pressure plate. It could be the clutch hydraulic slave cylinder not working. Check all these thing out before purchasing a new clutch/pressure plate. When VW is running does if like the vehicle has no get up an on like maybe the clutch is slipping. GB...stewbison

The fuse panel on 2002 VW Beetle Turbo is located behind a plastic cover on the driver's side end panel of the dashboard, door open. The fuse no.# 1 - 10A (red colour) is for cigarrete lighter. See pictures below:

My 2002 VW Beetle (not turbo) after charging battery won't run

Hopefully you are using the same ignition key you had before to start the car. This flip module mhas a chip that tells the system you have the proper key. If for some unknown reason the system lost this program it is probably a dealer only problem. The chip is inside the fob right near the key itself.

Oil pressure light comes on when I put the car in motion (at about 2000 rpms)

all turbo engines have a oil line to the turbo. If it is not getting oil the turbo will burn up and have to be replaced. Change your oil and filter to start with.
