Depends on the engine. If it is a 5.2 or a 5.9L gas it is located in the transmission bellhousing on the passenger side. It bolts to the block but extends into trans to the flywheel. If it is a 4.7 then it is located in the passenger side lower part of the block. It is held in by one bolt but is sometimes very hard to remove. The sensor has an oring that is recessed in the block about 1/4 of an inch or so. The block will rust between the oring and the outside of the block and you must carefully remove it by turning and prying out on the sensor. IF YOU BREAK IT YOU MUST REMOVE OIL PAN TO REMOVE REST OF SENSOR. Be careful and patient.

Also the cam sensor can cause the same fault code which is P0336. No you don't have to reset the time or have it recalibrated. You may need to remove the negative cable to reset the mil light or see your lacal parts store to turn off the light for you.

First be sure it is the crankshaft sensor. by getting a trouble code. at Autozone or other store.
The crankshaft sensor is usually located near the timing belt cover. If not , it can be inside the cover in some cars. No, the ECU will recognize the sensor . There is no need to move the timing. If there is any trouble after installing a new sensor.
With the key turnd off, remove the negative cable and reinstall it after a minute.

Location of crank case sensor on a 97 towncar

It doesn't have a crank case senor. Do you mean crank shaft position sensor? It is stuck in the block between the block and the A/C compressor.

Stopped while driving replaced fuel filter and pump and crank shaft senor

I suspect you have a bad camshaft sensor. It is part of the distributor. To check, remove distributor cap and rotor (1 screw for rotor) and check for brown dust. If yes, remove slotted wheel and clean optical sensor. If car starts, you need a distributor.

Crank sensor has no affect on system. It is used for back up only.

WHERE IS THE CRANK SHAFT SENOR?

The crank sensor is located on the trans. bell housing.Look behind the engine where the tranny bolts to the block and on top of the bell housing just a little off center you will see the sensor which has 2 bolts mounting it in place. It has a 6in length of wire attached to it with a plug on the end. This sensor reads off the flywheel.Hope this helps.

My alternator belt broke i fixd it now my car wont start it cranks but sounds funny

I am not sure where the crank position sensor is on your car but when the alternator belt broke on my Buick it trashed the crank sensor that is located next to the crank shaft pulley. The computer needs the crank senor to know the position of the crank shaft. If the sensor is bad the car will not start.

Have a 2001 jeep cherokee just put a cam senor in but still not starting can the crank senor be bad to or could i got the shaft that the senor sit on moved

The crank sensor is a well known cause of no spark condition, it is most likely the real problem, the crankshaft sensor for a Jeep 2001 is located behind the starter, you have to remove the starter to gain access, even then it is hard to get at.
