Any 3.5L from a 1999-2004 intrepid should work.

Can you replace 2002 Dodge intrepid engine with 2005 Dodge Intrepid engine

Actually the intrepid was discontinued on 2005 in favor of the magnum. If you are referring to the last year of the Intrepid. All engines should fit but for minimal changes swap the engine with the same displacement (2.7L, 3.3L & 3.5L).

What kind of coolant does the 2002 Intrepid need? I don't want to mix coolants/antifreeze, I've heard it will gel up? Where do I buy it?

I have to say I've never heard that. I've seen it freeze when not enough in an radiator. The best way to do this is, just drain the radiator, and fill with plain water, just run the car for about 10 minutes to let the thermostat to open, and circulate through the engine. Drain it again, best way on this time, is remove the bottom hose( When was the last time you changed the hoses? should every 3 years). Re-hook the hose, and use the anti-free of your choice. I use an earth friendly coolant from Auto Zone, but that's my choice. Just follow the directions on the jug( not all are the same). You should have no problems. Hope this helps

Should I but a new engine for my 2002 or just scrap the car. I have a 2002 that I just loved until the engine blew a year ago. Told it was the engine sludge problem. Is it worth getting a new/used engine...

I'd buy a new engine. Just make sure that the one you get has relatively low miles on it. Secondly, take the oil pan off and check the sediment there. Clean it out and put it back on with a good oil pan gasket. After the motor is installed, change your oil every 1,500 miles for the first little bit. This will help clean out anything that was in the engine. Also, use a good grade of gasoline for the first little bit... Shell or BP 89 or 93.

2002 dodge intrepid se 2.7 engine light on got

Anytime a Chrysler product of this year has a check engine light, get it to a dealer immediately. The 2.7 liter engine is notorious for oil sludging. This can be a dangerous problem that can destroy the engine.

Your problem may have nothing to do with oil sludging, and I hope it doesn't; but don't take a chance.

Google "Chrysler engine oil sludging."

The oil light comes on at low rpms but goes off when engine reaches 1500 rpm on a 2002 Dodge intrepid

I would get to a Dodge dealer as quickly as possible.

As I recall, these years in the Chrysler products were very prone to a condition called "oil sludging." This can lead to a seized engine, which can lead to a $3,000-4,000 engine replacement. The oil light might indicate low oil pressure, which could be related to plugged oil passages as a consequence of the sludging.

Dodge has paid for replacement engines for a lot of cars from the early 2000's; however, the car owner has to be persistent.

Check Google for "Chrysler engine oil sludging." You will get a real education on the subject.
