Question about 1987 Ford Escort
Starts up but wont stay running..will strat right up again bu will not hold idle unless foot is on the gas a little
Remove the IAC valve, clean the carbon from the IAC valve shaft and plunger. use throttle body cleaner, apply voltage or use a scan tool to actuate the valve plunger, blow out with compressed air. If you don,t want to apply voltage take a small flat blade screw driver and gently movev the plunger the breakup the carbon allowing free movement. 99% of the time the valve only needs a good cleaning.
