look I never even fool with the drain, it is to slow, just remove the lower radiator hose and then you get all the coolant out and in a hurry.

What exactly is the "round

that is where your heater core is. Its leaking, or the feed hose to the heater core is leaking. You really need to pull the plastic cover off, just below the dash on the passenger side to look. the heater core looks like a small radiator. If coolant is leaking out of it, replace it. the coolant will cause problems in the long run, if you don't fix it now. After fixing it, steam clean the passenger side of the suv, to stop having a smell, and stop the corrosion. hope this helps

1999 durango magnum : Where is the thermostat located for the durango magnum SUV .Illustration would doggond fantastic!

Hello lennroi: My name is Roger and I will answer your question for you. If you follow the upper radiator hose down to the top of the engine. You will find the thermostat. This is in a hole behind the A/C compressor. It makes no difference if you have a 3.9,5.2 or 5.9 engine. They are in the same spot.e3a5d3e.jpg Should you need further help just ask. Please rate the answer. This way I know your answer was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya.Roger

My 2001 dodge durango is overheating an leaking coolant from a round plug type thing in the corner on the passenger side near the windshield

What exactly is the "round plug type thing" near the firewall [passenger side]? Is it a sensor of some type? I, too, have a coolant leak here on my 2001 Durango; its tucked in rather tightly near the hood/firewall corner. My electric fan is not kicking on; vehicle overheated tonight. (4.7 liter)

What are the most commen problems in 2001 dodge durango?

the worse problem for my 01 with 180000 miles on it was. My power steering censor leaked sending fluid to my computer killing my O sensor. I think its a great SUV. I have had little problems with the car that weren't related to this. They sell a wire that can stop that from happening.

THEROMSTAT/ 2002 DODGE DURANGO???

make sure engine is cool then drain coolant by opening the drain plug at bottom of radiator. remove cap from radiator so coolant will continue to drain and when coolant is down enough to pull off upper radiator hose at intake then close drain, then remove two bolts at coolant housing and remove thermostate. clean gasket material from intake and housing and replace with new gasket and thermostate tighten bolts install hose fill rad with coolant water mix 50/50 and run engine with heat on floor until gets hot and you see coolant flowing in rad, install cap

you need to replace the thermostat.... quick fix for now is to put a peice of cardboard or similar in front of the radiator to stop airflow.
