Start with the power steering belt it takes a 12 mm socket for the bolt in the power steering . also loosen the bolt on the power steering pump pulley. remove the radiator lower fan shroud. It just clips in. pull the power steering belt around the fan and out of the engine compartment then do the a/c belt. That is the best way I know how.

loosen the lock bolt & nut on your alternator don't forget the one underneath, back off the tension remve the belt off the pulley then work it off over the fan you will find that hard but it can be done, put the new belt on in reverse order.

Ps let the motor cooldown first or wear leather gloves to save from burns.

Is there a guide for belt replacement for a 94 pickup truck i can access?

"i dont see a quick way to loosen the belt unless i take the alternator loose?"

yes, you do have to loosen the bolt that the alternator pivots
on in addition to the bolt that secures the alternator once you have the tension u want. That bolt is not very easy to get to on my truck.

Need diagram on alternator belt replacement on a

If the same as my '94 cyl then you tighten the belt by loosening the bolt that the alternator pivots on and the bolt that tightens the alternator to it's adjustment bracket. For my truck this is neither fun nor easy. The a/c and power steering belts having idler pulleys with adjustments on them making them MUCH easier to deal with.

Battery light comes on when I give it the gas and the voltage goes up. Battery and alternator have both been replaced. What could be the problem? It is in a 1989 Toyota Pickup. V6 3.0

Make sure the wires are tight on the back of the alternator and the belt is tight. If they are, the alternator has a bad diode in it.

Replacing broken belts 1990 toyota pickup

I found that it is embarrassingly obvious once you get the parts and place them in position. Each belt only fits the appropriate pulley in width and length. When the belt breaks there's no visual reference (as one would have if he replaced the belts before they broke!) if the belt diagram is worn off the hood. Lesson learned; replace belts- a simple task- before they break!

1989 Toyota pickup with short/dead battery

The brake light combined with the battery light tells me that your alternator is not sufficiently charging the battery. These 2 lights illuminate in tandem when the voltage regulator is not seeing over 12.5 volts. You are going to probably have to replace the alternator, or get it checked & overhauled at an alternator shop.
