Have you replaced this wire? Put a new wire on there if possible. If not, replace the end on the wire and make sure the connector is crimped thoroughly around the wire itself. Probably what is happening right now is only one of the wires in the bundle of wires inside the connector is making contact, causing that wire to heat up and melt the sheath.

Melted cable from battery to fuse box

no year. not even a jeep model stated, hopeless. that...
melted from over current or a local fire.
no photos?, no joy
what lug on battery. there are 2, pick one.
if minus is burnt that means you cranked the car over with a bad main starter minus lug connection and the 300amps flowed though the burned wire. (diameter of wire burn, measure it) or photo it .
if the smaller red wire burned that means the fuse is missing or bypassed, or car has no fuse on the alternator charge wire (rare)
but im shooting at the moon here.....
1: no car, no year stated.
2 no wire diameter or polarity stated.

My 2002 galant fuse box has melted where the ac fuse goes can it be fixed without replacing the fuse box?

Hello stanford8
A new or used fuse block is the recommended way to go. But in a
pinch, remove the fuse box mounting screws and pull it back to make
sure no other wires got melted or damaged. Cut the power out a/c wire
from the box. I should have said this first, pick up an inline fuse+holder
with the correct amp rating. connect one end to the 12v pwr in connection to the fuse block and the other end to the a/c power out wire
This will bypass the fuse block for the a/c only. The fuse holders are
available at any parts store. Also it would be wise to locate and repair
the cause of the meltdown first, if you havn't already done so.
Hope this helps.

Battery fuse melted, alternator showing good at fuse ,but when reconnected gets hot and starts to melt

common problem on VAG fusebox above the battery - replace the cable from the alternator and the fuse box itself, should solve the problem. to check, put an voltmeter across the battery when engine running. should be approx 14.volts. then try across the alternator. if more than 1 volt difference, then you have a bad connection and that causes the cable to overheat. alternative scenario that alternator is overcharging, but than a voltmeter will also show that

Battery not charging, new alternator, checked connections, checked fuses, alternator harness was melted at the end where it plugs into the main harness

A melted plug typically means a loose connection. Maybe one of the pins in the connector got loose and the poor connection created heat. If there are only a couple of wires to the plug and harness I would cut out the plugs and use good solderless connectors to repair. I wil be a lot less expensive than a new harness. If it is just damage to the plug going to the alt you can get replacements for them.

I HAVE A 1985 K30 6.2 DIESEL 4X4 MILTARY PICKUP

The reason the fuse blows/melts is because there is excessive draw. The other alternator could be wired wrong. Check to make sure the wires are correct gauge.
