04 impala overheats at stops - 2004 Chevrolet Impala

My 2005 impala runs hot when I stop at red lights or sit with my car in park. The minute I get on the road and take off, the temp needle goes back to normal. Had this problem for a while. I see this problem with alot of other people online, but no one seems to have had their car looked at. I'm hoping to find someone that has my answers before I bring my car in to know what to expect.

2003 impala heater quits working sometimes and it overheats sometimes

You should have it checked out right away, before the overheating does any damage to the engine. The whole coolant system should be inspected to find the cause. It may be a simple fix, maybe not. Are you adding coolant constantly? Do your radiator fans come on when it starts to overheat?
When it gets too hot, it may be boiling coolant away, and the low coolant level will cause the heater to stop putting out heat.

This is trying to warn you of a problem with your cooling system. Check the coolant level Cold, and add if needed, look for signs of a leak. while driving keep an eye on the temp gage and stop if it overheats
