You have to remove the allen screw from the center of the drain plug on the pan on bottom of tranny. you will need this tool 307-437 it screws into the place of the allen screw. You can probably get your ford dealer to order you one. You have to get the tranny fluid up to operating temp and you should fill it until you have a small stream of fluid coming out the end of the tool or the hole in the drain plug where allen screw goes.

I have a 1993 f150 got ran low on fluid automatic transmission now no reverse gear or forward gears & leaks have been repaired and fluid refilled shows. full when running & over full when shut off

When your trans begins to work, the pump pulls fluid up into the torque converter and upper parts of trans therefore good level. When you shut down the same fluid flows back down to the pan, this is the normal operation for an older transmissions. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

1997 chevy blazer shifting issues. will not shift properly when cold, have to let the truck warm up first, and when accelerating recently, will not shift, tach out around 4 on my gauge then shift. Had...

If the fluid is full and there are no external leaks, and it is still malfunctioning, I would try to flush and refill the transmission with new fluid to see if this rectifies the problem. If it doesn't, then there is a problem with a shift solenoid where the transmission will have to be reserviced and perhaps torn down and rebuilt again (I know this is dreadful). Try to see if there are any codes stored on the computer for the transmission that might point to a clue about the problem you are experiencing with it.

Everything was rebuilt on the transmission. However, then driving over 50mph the oil leaks. What can possibly be wrong.

If oil is leaking from the transmission then one of the seals was installed improperly take it back to the person who rebuilt it and ask them to take a look at it for you and repair it if it's warrentied.

Ford Focus 2002: won't go into gear.. any gear

automatic transmissions can break down over time. my focus had its transmission replaced once about 3 years ago and at that time my boss owned it and had it replaced for at least 4 digits 2000-3000$.

Manual transmissions last a bit longer[ not much ] and are lighter an easy to repair, but a shop will charge the same for the parts.

automatic are heavy and a little more complex

if you have a friend who is good with cars im sure you can save a lot more money

but make sure you have transmission fluid. look for a yellow cap [ sometimes its different colors] that should be to the right or left mid section and remove the cap and make sure its the transmission fluid cap and check to see if its low. try refilling but check for leaking so you dont waste it

your trans might be leaking so check to see if a red fluid it dripping from under your car, that may be the problem and the transmission may need to be replaced

'04 Dodge 3500 4x4 deisel - transmission leak

Is it automatic or manual? If manual check level of fluid in clutch master cylinder. If it is low, refill it will proper fluid and have slave cylinder checked by your local dealership. There are also seals where the shaft come out of the transmission that can leak. If the leak has been present for any amount of time your gears could be damaged. You should check you fluid lever via the proper bolts on the side of the transmission. If it is automatic I really cant help. Merry Christmas.

Transmission fluid change

More than likely, like most automatic transmissions, yours does not have an oil plug. You need to drop the transmission oil pan to drain the old oil... You need to buy a transmission filter/pan gasket kit. The filter is located on the bottom of the tranny. You will see it when you remove the pan. Replace the filter, thoroughly remove any traces of old gasket material, clean the mating surfaces, and reinstall the pan with the new gasket. Torque the pan bolts to the manufacturers spec (you should be able to get this where you buy the filter/gasket kit). Refill the transmission through the dipstick (Capacity for the Voyager is 4 quarts, make sure to use ATF Plus (Type 7176) for your particular tranny, NOT Dexron, Mercon, or generic automatic transmission fluid, Chrysler transmissions do not like any other kind and tend to fail quite quickly with the wrong fluid). Fill to the full cold level. Start the engine, move the shifter through all gear ranges, and put it back in park. Leave the engine running and refill to cold full. Drive the car for 5-10 minutes and, with the engine still running and the car in park, fill to Hot full. You should be ready to go!
