2009 Toyota Highlander Navigation

One minute the thing knows exactly where we are, the next minute it is miles away from where I acutally am. I have to stop and re-set the thing then it will work for a few days forgets again. Anybody have this problem too. I don't want to take it in to the dealership, but I will if I have to. I know how to reset it to tell it our location, but it is a pain!

I just bought a2009 Highlander Limited w/ navigation and the map indicates me being about 35 miles from where I'm actually at. Does anyone know how to reset or set the system to your current location?

  • bdavies644 Apr 27, 2009

Periodically navigation system does not know where I am, so when I ask it to take me to Location X, it may think I am starting from New York when in fact I am in California. I have had to manually calibrate the navigation system twice now to tell it the current location of my vehicle.

Toyo®, Exclusive Tire of 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Limited Grade
September 20, 2007– CYPRESS, CALIFORNIA – Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation announced today that the Toyo® Open Country® A20 is the exclusive tire of Toyota’s all-new 2008 Highlander Hybrid, Limited grade. In addition, the Open Country® A20 is original equipment on several other models of the 2008 Toyota Highlander, both hybrid and gas.

The Open Country A20 achieved exceptional low rolling resistance performance making it ideal for the hybrid model. The tires were also specifically designed to reduce noise and improve both wet and dry braking for added safety.

Based on the model and trim level of the Highlander, the Open Country A20 comes in two sizes: P245/65R17 105S and P245/55R19 103S.

Toyo manufactures and distributes a complete line of replacement tires for high performance cars, luxury vehicles, light trucks and SUVs as well as tires for commercial trucks, buses and off-road and construction applications.

I'm surprised if it's so good at braking that it has not ripped my entire tire tread off as technicians say the treat is separating well before its time!

SOURCE: Where is my Toyota Highlander 2008 fuel filter located?

This model does not have an external fuel filter, there is a permanent fuel filter inside the gas tank that is not serviceable unless you want to remove the gas tank.

What 2014 highlander problems have been found so far?

My navigation did not re-calculate the route, when I missed a turn.
I went to the dealer, they said it is working fine. I said all GPS re-calculate the route when one miss a turn. They argued that nothing they can do about it. All Toyota navigation work the same.

Uneven tyre wear on my 2009 Highlander?? Toyota has blamed alignment and they have now checked and re-set it 3 times in 4 months. Does anyone else have this issue or can provide an answer?

Highlanders usually go between 15-25k miles before needing tire replacement.

One suggestion is to bump the air pressure in your tires up to 35PSI vs. the recommended 30PSI.

There seem to be others with the same problem, maybe you can check out the forum at this link for more information.

2009 Toyota Highlander LE power back door is not closing it closes but opens back on its own

this is the common problem of some new model suv now,
check out first the sensor at sides of tailgate for some stain that detected by the sensors , if there are some dirt or stain at sensors it will not works properly because as it knows that there are some object at the tailgate, if you cleaned it and same problem, open the upper portion of rearward ceiling to find out any problem here, specially to the moving wires and secured the wires and harness, keep away from sharp object at the roof to avoid wiring damage

Toyo 19" A20 Tires wearing out quickly

Contact the Toyo company. toyota will not help you on this one. You need to check to see if there is unusual shredding or peeling or possibly chunks coming off the tires. That is what happened with mine at 14K miles and I am in the process of getting them replaced. Toyota service told me they thought it was normal wear. It was not. After I contacted Toyo, they told me to go to a toyo dealer and have them call the company back. They offered me 100% if I put the same A20 tire onthe vehicle and 70% (100% for unused spare) if I put the new Toyo HT. I chose the latter since it has a 60K mile warranty. What I also found out is the A20 tire is not the same one you can buy now. The new one is the A20A. The original A20 was made specifically for Toyota at their request as an OEM tire. Toyota should have some liability in this and I am fighting them for the 30% cost, but am not holding my breath they will help.
