Check the timing belt (symptoms are faster than normal cranking and very low compression readings)
This may be a repeat post...my system crashed last time I sent this!

No, but the belt being bad could give yoiu a sensor reading like that

  • Richard Scordino Mar 02, 2009

Sorta went over that but do a compression test if its really low it's the belt. Only other way to check is to take it apart and look at it. Does it spin faster than normal?

Of course, check everything...fuel air, spark and that it's all happening when it is supposed to. I generally gravitate to most common things Since I can't see or hear it it' takes a lot to diagnose stuff I could pick up on in under fifteen minutes in hands on situation.

2001 dodge stratus hesitated couple times while driving got home now wont start

Have you checked fuel pressure ?
Are you getting spark to the plugs ?
Normal compression ?
Was the check engine light on when you were driving home ?

2001 dodge stratus turned off while driving, oil was empty and it wont start

If you are saying it will not crank, the engine could be locked up.
A mechanic would try turning the crank by using the alternator pulley.

My 2006 dodge stratus wont start. it just died on me while i was driving. i changed the spark plugs and it would act as if it wants to start but wont turn over. it says P0340 on the diagnostic. pleases...

Battery or alternator? is probably the problem......try jumping it and if it still dies replace alternator...but dont forget to check all wires coming from battery and cleaning them....

Take a gallon or two gas can with you. When your light comes on, mark the miles, then drive till it dies. This is how many miles you can go.

2001 dodge stratus wont start

SORRY TO SAY BUT WHEN ONE SENSOR GOES BAD 90% OF THE TIME BOTH GO BAD AT THE SAME TIME. YOU WILL ALSO HAVE TO REPLACE CRANK SENSOR .WITCH IS ABOUT 80 BUCKS AT THE LOCAL AUTO STORE SUCH AS ADVANCED AUTO OR AUTO ZONE . BOTH CAM SHAFT SENSOR AND THE CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE DODGE STRATUS. GOOD LUCK. KENNY
