Question about 1997 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

THE BRAKE LIGHT WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT DOESN'T WORK. I CHECK AND CHANGED THE BULB AND IT'S NOT THE BULB. IF I TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS OR PARKING LIGHTS, THE WARNING LIGHT GOES OUT BUT AS SOON AS I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES OFF.

Well here's a start towards ur problem, due to the auto circuits u have an open return to the negative side of the battery. Have you done anything with the vehicle's systems before this started? the reason fo the strange lighting is that a positive voltage is being applied to what normally would be return side. You will need to get an electrical diagram if possible to pin point area if as previously asked didn't occur.

Tail lights work but not brake lights 93 toyota camry

The brake light side of the bulbs is powered by the brake switch and travels thru the turn signal switch.
If the third brake light works, I would guess the problem is in the turn signal switch.

The warning brake light has a dual purpose. Check your brake fluid and check your brake light bulbs. If it is low on fluid, it will trigger the light. If the bulb is lose or weak, it will also trigger the light. Good luck!

When i press brake pedal driver side brake light quits working but other wise it works fine?

That has a double filament bulb in it. One is for the tail light and the other for the brake and maybe the turn signal. If your turn signal flashes the tail light and not an individual turn signal bulb it will behave the same way. The way it works is that the tail light filament goes off and the brighter brake light filament comes on. The brake light half of the bulb is out. If you change it, change the passenger side too, it will do the same shortly if you leave it in. They tend to go bad in pairs. Good luck.

RE: 2002 Toyota Highlander 2.4cyl. 4X4 Base Model

I am a Certified Technician and have basic knowledge with electronics in electrical wiring. I searched the web and discovered this is a common problem.

I fixed the problem and it was a simple procedure... The problem is with the reverse light socket at the side with no brake light. This socket functions as a hub to direct current to the brake bulbs.

Remove reverse light socket and re-seat bulb. Check for loose or broken prongs. Replace if necessary.

Swap the reverse socket with the other side.

Mazda 3 tail light on, brake light not on

The bulb actually has two seperate elements in it.
That is why the tail light works fine.

If you take the bulb out you will see the seperate elements.
Change the bulb and it should be fine.

Couple of problems

does the car run ok when running [or does it use more gas than usuall does it idle ok] noises coming from your intake that are loud is normally signs of an inlet valve burned . you say one brake light works the other doesn,t but the the brake light stays on all the time first of all you need to fix the brake light that is not working i presume when you say you checked the bulb on the light that is not working firstly is it the correct bulb and is it in properly as they are handed and even if it looks ok check it by replacing it with the bulb out of the other one you know that works if thats ok fine if it still doesn,t work your going to need to check that there is a live feed to it and a ground but needs this sorting first. for brake light to be on all the time it must have a live feed so the favourite is going to be a faulty brake light switch take the wires off this and see if the light goes out it should if not your going to have to check the wiring from the switch to the rear lights yates210456
