A vacuum leak would cause the high idle.Must have left a vacuum line unhooked somewhere.

My 97 ford taurus wagon 3.0 shifts a little late and has higher rpms about 500 and 5mpgs less

You need to have a shop check engine vacuum and exhaust back pressure. It sounds like you have a catalytic converter clogging up or a EGR valve hanging open. If the trans is shifting at higher rpm with no slipping then it is seeing a low vacuum signal which is telling the computer you have the throttle pressed farther down than you really do. A restricted exhaust will cause this. 99.9% of the time it is the cat converter. Normal vacuum should be around 18 inches at idle. Id bet you are at 14 inches or lower.

it would usually be the tps (throttle positioning sensor) but you can also check the icv (idle control valve)

Operating oil pressure for 14.0l detroit dieselseries 60

If the engine is at normal operating temperature 25 pounds is fine at idle. Also have you tested the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge, if not you should do so.

My car idles way to fast. what could be the problem?

you most likely have a vaccum hose leak, when the engine senses a lean condition due to the adition of air thru the leak the computer will adjust the fuel to compensate, making it idle higher than normal, look for cracked or broken vaccum lines, hope this helps..

On my 1996 ss impala what low side pressure should I see on the a/c with the system running

It all depends on the outside (ambient) air temperature. Your A/C low pressure switch is designed to turn the compressor off at 24 Psi. and turn it back on at 45 Psi. Most systems will normally run at between 25 and 40 Psi when the system is running on HIGH blower and "MAX" or "RECIRCULATE". A system that is fully charged may run at 25 Psi when the ambient temperature is 75 Deg. (F) and may run at 40 Psi when the ambient temperature is at 90 Deg. (F). (it can be even higher if ambient temperatures are higher than 90 Degrees.)

To properly diagnose a malfunctioning A/C system, the HIGH side pressure must also be checked. Restrictions in the system can make the low side pressure look normal while the high side pressure is high enough to blow hoses apart. (400+ Psi.)

While driving the oil pressure gauge sits between 60 and 65 psi but when i get on the gas it shoots up to 80 psi. When idling it sits on 40 psi.

When the engine is idling, the oil pressure is reduced. At fast idle (such as highway speed) it in increases. This is considered normal. If it goes higher than 80 or lower than 40...have it checked out.

Idle at 3000rpm, sometimes won't start, trans shifts erratically

check and make sure you don't have a vaccum leak check all vaccum hoses. with the engine running so fast it could cause the trans problem

2000 ford taurus transmission transaxle light is comming on after about 15 min of driving. I just had the transmission rebuilt. If i cut the car off it cuts off and it will come back on when I drive it...

you need to take it back to where you had the trans rebuilt and have them check the codes for the trans. When mine did that there was a big problem but I waited to long to go have it checked out and ruined the trans.

4.3 Liter V-6 Idles rough when in gear, runs fine on highway.

Can you check fuel trims at idle and under load?
If fuel trim is high at low speed and load, look for a vacuum leak.
If fuel trim is high at high speed and loads, look for fuel volumn problem or restriction.
If fuel trim is high at all speeds and loads look for pcm input fault, maybe a maf sensor problem?
If fuel trim is negative low speed and load, look for fuel pressure regulator or injector leak. If fuel trim is negative at all speeds and loads check ect and iac.

If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. key on engine off, 60--66 psi fuel pressure.

My 2000 Ford Taurus at about 4000 rpm does not go further with rpm even when accelerator is press more. It gives off a pulsating choking sound at above mentioned rpm. At below 4000 rpm the engine runs...

To do this in park or neutral is normal. To do it while driving is not.
There are so many things that could cause this but if you have no check engine light and it runs normally up until then I would suspect you have an exhaust restriction. This can be checked fairly easy on this vehicle, it has a DPFE sensor that mounts near the top back side of the motor. It will either be black or silver, will have a 3 wire connector to it and 2 hoses going down the back of the motor to the exhaust. You can disconnect one of these hoses and install a vacuum/pressure guage and measure exhaust back pressure. It should be 1 psi or less at idle and when you go to wide open throttle should not exceed 3 to 4 psi. If it does something in exhaust, most likely one of the catalytic convertors is stopped up.
