I have the same car 2000 Audi A4. I recommend you "TRW" brake pads. First you must verify yours front brake disc diameter: 280 mm or 288 mm. (On my car y have 288 mm). After that you can buy the brake pads (with wear sensor). For change front brake pads you must raise vehicle, remove wheels, extract the retaining spring of the caliper, and remove the caliper as follow: 1. Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, and do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose! 2. Remove top and bottom caps (on back side of the caliper) for access to guide pins, then unbolt and remove them from the brake carrier. Remove the caliper. 3. Now you must thoroughly clean the brake calipers (free of grease). 4. Remove outer brake pad from brake carrier. 5. Pull inner brake pad out of brake caliper piston. 6. Check up the brake fluid level on the reservor, and emptying if neccessary! 7. Push piston back into brake caliper housing. 8. Install inner brake pad (with expanding spring) in brake caliper piston. (Arrow marked on pad - if exist, must point in direction of brake disc rotation when vehicle is moving forward). 9. Install outer brake pad into brake carrier. 10. Bolt brake caliper housing to brake carrier using two guide pins. Tightening torque is 25 Nm. 11. Install both caps. 12. Insert retaining spring into brake caliper housing. Important: Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions!!! Check brake fluid level and top up if neccessary!!! Please Rate my Response! Thanks!

No, you do not have to remove the emergency break cable unless you are changing the emergency break pads. The caliper acts independent of the emergency break.

I have a kymco spacer and am changing the brake pads I ordered them and one pair are thicker than the other do the thicker ones go on the back or front


Your saying the pads for the front and the rear of your vehicle are exactly alike? No difference in their design at all? Yet, four of 8-pads are thicker? If that's the case, and I am guessing here, since the front breaks usually do most of the stopping work and get changed at least 2 to 3 times before the back breaks will need to be changed, than I would put the thicker pads on the front. But, if this is all you have to go on? I would suggest buying a Chilton's owners manual for that year, make & model vehicle. I used to buy one for every car or truck I owned - that is before they turned my car into a computer. Still good to own one for the grunt-work.

How to install break pads


Front aren't to bad just remove tire.Caliper holds pads, there are to bolts to be removed they may be allen wrench type from back to front One on the top one on bottom of caliper. After removing and a small amount of wiggling should allow you to tip the caliper back away from rotor and allow you to unsnap pads from caliper. Next you need a large C-clamp you use this to slowly push cylinder back into caliper, The cylinder has to go all the way back in or after you install new pads you wont be able to get them back down over rotor.Once you have pads set in caliper replace caliper over rotor and replace bolts in caliper pads are changed. BUT before taking off with vehical drive back and forth to ensure the brake pads properly set up and that you have brakes before taking off down the road.ONE other thing you may encounter,after removing bolts to take caliper off there are to spacers that slide with bolts as brakes wear.These to spacers have to be pushed into the caliper to allow you to be able to get the calipers properly seated on rotor. These spacers are seated in rubber and sometimes you have to drive them back in, be careful with the brake line so you don't break it while changing brakes it does Not have to be taken off to change the pads.Good luck let me know how it goes.

Make sure you replace both your rotors & pads. Don't just replace one side.

I want to know when to change pads as well as shoes on a 2005 Jeep liberty?


Most front pads have a wear tab that will contact the rotor and make noise when they need to be done. Sometimes the tab breaks off though. Good rule to follow is if the brake material is worn to the point that it's close to being as thick as the metal backing it's attached to, change them. On shoe type brakes, linings should be changed when they reach 2/32" above the rivet heads or backing. Most times, the fronts will wear at about 2 to 1 to rears, sometimes as much as 3:1. Fronts get about 70% more use.

Its possible the brake pads have worn down again, if they are and , obviously , you need to change them. Pay attention to the brake caliper pistons, check that they are not sticking or seized and also the caliper slider. Free off these parts. Hope that helps

it is easy to change even you can change it your just going to take off the front wheel then you will see the break panel there's a bolt holding the break pad loose it so can pull the break pad out... or more or less even a driveway mechanic can do this for less cost...

Brake Pad Sensor


i have replaced both front/ rear pads, and no matter what the dash light will not go off. I have disconnected both front/rear sensors, and light is still on , any suggestions?
