Diagnoses : 2002 745i bmw ( hot-film air-mass flow senser )

Also: variable valve gear-power limitation in limp-home operating code.
misfire detection, cylinder 4.
variable valve gear-monitoring, CAN internal fault, control unit, bank1.

( I have the engine fault signe keeps showing on...!, also when stepping on gas paddle the car will take a up to 5 sec. to start speeding up...???).
This car in Iraq and I am an American citizin working in Iraq, no bmw reliable agent in Iraq ( all bmw service men here are fake and dump, I have already spent more than 3000 dollars here and not fixed this car.)
Please, advise.

Hot-film air mass sensor when diagnose say is damaged, replace it!!! Trouble when car will take up to 5.sec. is associated with this! Bank 1, the accumulated value of lambdasond the left side of the engine cylinders. While the problem is in the ignition at the 4th cylinder, Bank-1 data were then evaluated as poor. Allow change fourth ignition coil and the CAN mistake Dont look it! is an accidental fault! eventually allow for BMW servicing erase all the mistakes and make a new adaptation of the engine throttle body, and adaptation of the engine in to "0" setting

    I do not know why Mr. Lloyd.c gives advice to
    another type of car. His advice to the E38 model, but here the E65
    model and solve it with the previous generation has absolutely no
    identical wire electrics!
    And Mr. stanley141 advice is useful for removal when the engine is a lot of exhaust smoke!

I have had the ecu box full of water, this car i had was amazing how it ran, it was a 51 plate 2001 740il, no signs of water until u look close, i could see a water line, took apart ecu to find more corrosion etc then i ever seen in my life.
i cleaned it and it never worked again.
i was getting funny starting and msgs on dash board. hope this helps.

make sure that the dealer has followed service bulletin 12 07 99 for procedure to replace the MDK throttle motor

Ok, i have a 2000 sierra 5.3 slt got the p0101 code it wouldnt star up unles i give it some gas and it shots off so, rough idle and wont stay on, i change the MAF sensor (new delphi) but still doing the...


The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor is located in the stream of intake air and measures this intake flow rate by measuring a part of the entire intake flow. It is what they call a hot film and is supplied with electric current from the Engine Control Module (ECM).
The temperature of the hot film is controlled by the ECM to a certain extent. The heat generated by the hot film is reduced as the intake air flows around it. The more air, the greater the heat loss. Therefore, the ECM must supply more electric current to maintain the temperature of the hot film as air flow increases. The ECM detects the air flow by means of this current change.
The OBDII people suggest that before you replace the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with compressed air or by using a cleaner on the mass air flow sensor. Truly, all that may be wrong is a build-up of dirt.Unfortunately, in your case, replacing the Mass Air Flow did not work.After replacement, did you reset the code and drive the vehicle?.

P200A Intake Manifold Runner Performance
The Variable Charge Motion Actuator (VCMA) is used to adjust a valve (flap) in the intake runner for each cylinder. The valve does not close off the runner but restricts it in such a way to cause turbulence (swirl) in the air fuel mixture. The turbulence in the air will reduce emissions under cold start condition. The valve is operated by a worm gear type driver which doesn't open for limp home mode in the case of loss of current supply. (It doesn't have a return spring.) The system also has a Valve Position Sensor (VPS) to supply a feedback of the valve position to the PCM.

code p1193 refers to ETS -limp home valve --on===causes --Low RPM
code p0302 refers to cylinder 2 misfire detected===causes--engine mechanical fault--wiring---ignition/ fuel system---injector---ECT/MAF sensor---ECM.
Pulling a battery lead to reset is a waste of time as it corrupts the CPU program. Use a code reader to reset . It is quicker and doesn't run the risk of program corruption

2001 Passat 1.8 Turbo engine sputtering and hesitating


My car was doing this and I had to get all new coil packs... Mine were replaced under recall at the dealership at no cost. If you take each code and google it, or even check a VW forum, I'm sure the members there can provide a lot more thorough information...... I have a 2001.5 Passat myself and when one thing goes out they all follow suit. I will help with some research for you and post back...... But I'd check the coil packs that sit atop the spark plugs.

MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR (MAF SENSOR)
This hot film type air flow sensor is composed of a hot film sensor, housing, and a metering duct (hybrid, sensor element). The mass airflow rate is measured by detection of heat transfer from a hot film probe. A change in the mass air flow rate will cause a change in the amount of heat being transferred from the hot film probe surface to the air flow. This results in a change in temperature of the hot film probe and a change of resistance.
