    On my bill was this:

Connect hi-scan tool and scan for diagnostic trouble codes

Code 78 - APS Main, erase diagnostic trouble code

Repl incorrect and loose spark plugs

Checked diagnostic trouble codes - did not return.

But the next heavy downpour of rain, my car is outside, I drove it for a short way and up came the engine light and my car glides to a stop, engine still running but no acceleration.....?

throttle cable I believe, too old for electronic throttle control.

    If this makes any sense.

My car was imported from Japan. I have no idea what APS means, I have the manual but doesn't tell me. If you know how i could find out, let me know what I can look for in my car or what to ask someone and I will...... sorry I am not a lot of help. I really appreciate the help you are giving me, I don't know much about cars, apart from how to change the tyre, and do the oil and water.....

I have just re-read my last mechanic report this is what it said, maybe it means something to you.....

Found main sensor fault found again on hi scan. Removed and sent away for overhaul test. Cleaned all connections in the main wiring harness in the engine bay. Refitted main sensor and retested. Road tested - noticed engine vibrates, front brakes warped, steering shakes.

    Outwork and misc.

Repair and report APS Main sensor 15266

I have no idea what that sensor number means I am sorry. This may help it may not....

    Many thanks,

Do you know if your car has a throttle cable or electronic throttle control?

Well I was thinking it was too old for electronic throttle, but I was thinking the APS code stood for Accelerator postion sensor. And if it was electronic throttle, It would explain your whole problem. Is this a car from the USA? or a different country? I don't recognize the model. If it isn't please tell me if you know what APS is. If you don't know I will figure it out for you. Hope I can help.

04 dodge durango slt. Every time it rains my car stalls and check engine light comes on. Went through car wash also and it died. I can wash myself and don't have this problem. Maybe under engine??.

Something is getting wet. Check the codes with a code scanner to see if you can isolate the problamatic area. The code/s may point you to what circuit is causing your trouble

What causes my 2001 mitsubishi GDI car to be firing only on number 2 and 3 cylinders

Check to see if #1 &4 use a common coil pack. If so, = likely culprit.

My BMW X5 2008 airconditioning wont work after driving through heavy rain and deep puddles

how deep of water were you in??if the alternator belt got wet as did all the belts.. they wont "hook up" untill they dry enough to grab..did your battery light or check engine light activate? this means your car was running on the battery until the belts dry out enough to reconnect without sliding over the pulleys..when this happens all power goes to the engine..

Runs poorly when its wet outside

Sounds like your distributor cap is loose. It's likely getting water in it when you drive through water.

I have a 98 mitsibishi chariot grandis gdi, it smokes badly while warming up but then gets less while driving. The smoke is bluish white.

I think it is blue oil smoke that you are describing, indicating internal engine wear of piston rings and/or valve guides leaking excessive oil.

Usually, this occurs to high mileage vehicles, or vehicles which haven't had regular oil changes every 3,000 mi. for the life of the engine.

1998 gdi grand chariot abs light is always on and has A tak tak sound when driving

needs to have system checked, could be as simple as debris, grease, dirt fouling an abs bet is to take it to a dealer, another thing to consider is if you have a warning light on for something like abs or airbag etc, that system is out of order and will not work till fault is rectified.

The rain is the culprit. It studders, misses, dies. Won't start.

Check the distributor cap and rotor. A usual culprit in wet weather. The CHECK ENGINE light is most likely a side effect. Have codes checked to be sure. Hope this helps

When it rains, my car dies.

it sounds like the computer is getting wet; on a clear dry day, wash the car and check for any leaks up around the windshield before drying it off especially if the water coming in on the passenger side behind the glove box because that is where your computer is located
