No codes coming up I'm lost on it

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2013

I know you already changed the fuel pump, but check the fuel pressure. Do you have any spark? How do you check the code? Maybe you have to check it with a better scanner.

  • Chris Hathaway Mar 26, 2013

The car will run about 20 miles and its fine then it sits at work for 8.5 hrs and then on the way home it will die like it wont take gas and let it sit about 10 mins and it will start and go for a few again

  • Chris Hathaway Mar 26, 2013

No codes and check them with a snap on scanner

My car has a similar problem, if you take it to AutoZone or Advance Auto Parts they will usually scan it for codes at no charge. My problem is a bad Map Sensor. Hope this helps.

If the fuel pump operates with with a jumper at data link. That clears that the fuel pump is running. So check the EFI relay and the fuel pump relay. Now what is EFI relay:--- EFI Main Relay The EFI fuse supplies constant battery voltage to EFI main relay. The EFI main relay provides battery voltage to +B terminal of circuit opening relay (some models) and data link connector. Depending on model, EFI main relay may either be turned on directly by ignition switch or by M-REL terminal of Engine Control Module (ECM). The EFI main relay may also provide battery voltage to +B and +B1 terminals of ECM when ignition is turned on. The EFI main relay is located in engine compartment relay box. NOTE: Circuit opening relay is used on all models. Circuit Opening Relay Circuit opening relay controls fuel pump circuit. The Engine Control Module (ECM) receives an input signal at STA terminal when engine is cranking. Starter signal is also applied to STA terminal of circuit opening relay. Starter signal energizes circuit opening relay during cranking. Circuit opening relay then provides voltage to fuel pump or fuel pump relay. The circuit opening relay is grounded by ECM through FC terminal.Fuel Pump Relay & Fuel Pump Resistor .Fuel pump relay receives voltage from circuit opening relay and operates fuel pump. Fuel pump operating speed may be varied by Engine Control Module (ECM). When ECM grounds fuel pump relay, relay contacts close, and voltage is supplied through fuel pump resistor, to fuel pump. This changes fuel pump operating speed. ---------------------- As there are many other possibilities to check out of the mentioned procedure. But as you said fuel pump works with jumper wire and the fuel pump relay is replaced,on as per that i think the problem is the Fuel pump relay connections. The relay ground wire is connected to the ECM.If this wire is not connected properly or if this ground wire is got short or in-case not connected, then the ECM will not send signal to fuel pump relay to get started so it will not let the fuel pump start. But in jumper wire connection the relay is bypassed so no ground connection required and due to that fuel pump works. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation

SOURCE: After putting premium gas in my 2003 focus on

Hello, Have a comment or two about your car. First thought was about Inertia switch in the rear cargo area of your vehicle. There is a reset button on the impact (inertia) switch for the fuel pump. You should hear the pump run the first second or 2 when you turn your key. It also has a power relay which should be in a black box of relays. There is also an Ignition relay on some Ford products.

When you tried the Starting fluid, you said it did not Start. But did it hit at all? When you did not have any codes on the computer, did the computer and the scanner connect or was the computer dead? Dead computer equals no codes.

There are a few things you can do and what I would try if I was there. Check the relays I mentioned. Go back to the basics and check for spark at the plugs and compression. If possible check fuel pressure at the Injector rail (which could lead back to a bad fuel pressure regulator). Check for power at the TPS switch at the throat of the Airhorn.

If you have no power to the TPS, or the fuel pump, check the Ignition switch. You have power for cranking, but the RUN terminal on the Ignition switch is a different terminal. Now for any missing test tools, you can get Loaners at Autozone and Oreillys with a deposit.

Would like to know the outcome of this problem. Thanks

What is a ballpark figure for replacing a 2002 Ford Taurus thermostat?

stat is like 8 bucks, labor should not be more than 40 (at my shop)
worried the heater core may be the problem tho.
That is a very costly job.Try this, put a "winter front " on the
car, piece of cardboard in front of the rad.
I am assuming this car has no temp. gauge,so the winter front
will make the water temp go way up,if the heater works after like 5
miles of driving ,cool, the stat is bad,if the heater still doesn't work
the heater core is bad. The whole dashboard has to come out for the
heater core ,yuk
Don't drive more than like 20 miles with the radiator covered, just
to be safe,

My mechanic says my 2000 Mazda Millenium needs a belt replaced; it is mandatory thru Mazda at 100,000 miles. Is this correct? Part is not expensive, but total cost to me will be $1,000.00.

if your taling about a serpatine belt with is the belt that runs things like the power steering pump and water pump and alternater and ac compressor then why the hell does it cost a grand to replace i would find a different mechanic and get a second opion.

The engine has an electronic module where the spark plug wires connect to. Replace this and you will see the difference. Once this module heats up it will malfunction. After cooling down the car will start up again. hope this helps.

Car Runs and Loses Power and Quits Running

Try cleaning the fuel pump filter. Under the seat behind the driver lift the carpet and you will find a round cover with six screws remove the cover. The fuel pump is directly below unscrew the retaining round plate and remove the pump. At the base of the pump is a small filter if it is covered in black muck that's your problem. clean and replace. job takes about 10 mins good luck. please let me know how you got on!
