If it is a screeching noise it will not be your timing belt. It could be your alternator belt or serpentine belt. You can buy some belt dressing (usually good to have) from the parts store and spray some of that on the inside of the belts where it contacts the pulley. You may also have to check the adjustments on both of those belts as well. If you run into this i can help take you step by step, but try this and see how that goes first.

The AC compressor on my 98 RAV4 is making alot of noise. Can I get a new serpentine belt to delete the AC? Or is there an easier fix? I'm looking for the cheapest solution.

The cheapest solution is to replace the a/c clutch without servicing the a/c. Just leave the a/c off. Even with a bad compressor the clutch will still serve as the idler.

Santro car is having rough noise from engine. done 78000 kms on

Hi. if your timeing belt has not been changed that would be the noise it will make. you should get done right away because if that belt breaks you motor will need a new top end. I hear them all the time when the belt is getting to go and the way you explained it. It sounds like you need one today. It will cost you about 500. hope i was a help to you and good luck. P.S. change that belt every 60,000 miles.
