Starting problems clicking sound 1996 Dodge Dakota 4x4 3.9L v6 won't turn over just clicks 1 time

Put a wrench on the crankshaft bolt. If you can turn the engine by hand, replace the starter.

Pump the tank dry of the fuel using the electric fuel pump, just jump the fuel pump relay to get the pump to run and remove the supply line to the injectors and attach a hose. Use extreme caution around gasoline, no sparks, ground the container to the truck.

1996 Dodge Dakota V6. Looking to buy this vehicle used. It has 190,000 miles. The V6 engine has a ticking noise that sounds like it is coming from the front of the engine. Are there any common problems...


THAT COULD BE PISTON RING OR PIN NOISE.ALSO TIMING CHAIN MAKE NOISE ON A HIGH MILEAGE ENGINES.YOU TAKING A CHANCE TO BUY A VECHICLE WITH THAT MANY MILES ON IT.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you need to put some attention towards the cat and the O2 sensors.
