Question about 1987 Chrysler New Yorker

1987 Chrysler New Yorker Cluster & Wipers

My lights that show the speedometer and how much gas the car has (etc.), are not working. I don't know if you just have to replace a fuse or do something else. Someone told me that i would have to order a whole new cluster thing to replace it. Is that true?

Then there is one side working, that shows how many miles I've recently drove (with a reset button). But, everything else doesn't work. Then only the driver's side windshield wiper works. The other one will not move. Is that easy to fix? I don't know ANYTHING about cars!

Also, how do I get my electric wondows to go up and down better. It's like they are off track or something. Do you have to like replace a motor, or just oil them or something?

I realize I sound completely retarded, but I need some advice please!

Yes you will likely need a new cluster. Try a salvage yard or ebay. Check to see if the wiper arm is stripped or for a loose attaching nut. Try oiling the slides of the windows with silicon spray lubricant.

Radio fuse

there might be a fuse for the windows i doubt it there will be one for the radio but the speedometer do you mean the light wont work or the sppedometer itself if its the speedometer itself then it is the speed sensor and the gas guage its the sending unit or if its the light then if all the other lights work and those dont then take the instrument cluster off and replace those bulbs

Instrument cluster gauges

Check engine light ,abs , air bag lights etc.... come on when key turned on ?
Fuse IPC/HVAC BATT 10 amp located in the left IP junction block . Do you know where this junction box is ?
Does the heater an A/C work ? If so the fuse isn't the problem .
Speedometer
The speedometer is a road indicator. The vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is a permanent magnet generator which is located on the transaxle. The VSS sends an input to the PCM whenever the transaxle differential carrier turns. The PCM then buffers the VSS signal. The PCM transmits the VSS signal to the following components at 4000 pulses/mile through CKT 817:
• The instrument cluster
• The cruise control module
• The radio (uplevel)
The instrument cluster uses the input in order to indicate the vehicle speed on the speedometer.
Instrument Cluster Indicators
The BCM controls the instrument cluster indicators through the SPI serial data communication bus. Refer to Body Control Module System Check in Body Control System.

Certain dash lights don't light up

Probably bulbs in the dash cluster burnt out, or possible bad printed circuit. Pull the guage cluster and check illum. circuit for the right bulbs

Same problem as the one on the screen my gauges sometimes work (speedometer, gas tank level, odometer, etc.) and sometimes they don't. i put in new fuse, but still have problem. what can i do?

check the connectors on the Dash and make sure you don't have a loose connector. This type of problem is usually very simple or Very Expensive. The simple one would be a bad connection or short. The expensive one would be having to replace the ECM or Dash Cluster itself.

I have a 1991 chrysler new yorker, and the instument cluster just went out. all the turn lights work and check engine dummy light work, just no speed and gas gauge. checked all light bulbs, and fuses with...

okay if the light work then it wont be a fuse, this sounds like a bad connection or bad cluster. remove the cluster and unplug the connectors to it and then reconnect them and start the car and see if they work if not then i would say the cluster went bad, good day.
